Thanks goodness it is finally over!

I started to organise a charity concert last February 2022, and it finally happened last night, raising much more than anticipated for the one of the service charity that I support.

It was meant to be an event for the bigger international service charity, however, they had cold feet so I offered to the other smaller local charity instead.

If I said I was not worry about it back on 08 February 2023 I would be lying, as ticket sales was painfully slow, and we had a big venue to fill, the biggest in my town.

However, with help from the charity, friends, and performers who all have personal connections with me, we pulled it off, and raised nearly double the amount we were hoping to achieve. Together, we did something AMAZING in my home town and for the charity!

I was working a lot of hours and decided to fund the concert so that 100% of the proceeds go to the charity.

So happy to have done it.

Thanks for reading!

What a generous act @dk168
Which charities will this go towards?

It is a local charity that supports the homeless and vulnerable people in town and the surrounding areas.

I have been a volunteer for them since November 2021 as a cook or kitchen helper once a month on Fridays.

Congratulations! I can imagine the amount of work that went into that and the anxiety about attendance. That is fantastic that you decided to fund it yourself too, not many people would be so selfless.
I started a charity last year and recently we hosted our first event. We only planned 20-60 people to attend throughout the day but I was stressed that we wouldn’t have more than a handful of people show up!

Congratulations on your job well done!! Always such a good feeling when things go right and are successful!

That's wonderful DK! I'm so happy your event went well in the end and I am sure a lot of people appreciate and will benefit from all your hard work!

That is incredible! Congratulations, and good for you for acknowledging your hard work and that the pay off was directly based off your involvement. What a thrill.

Congratulations @dk168!! I read your post a little while ago in the grumpies thread, it sounded like an exercise in herding especially-noncompliant cattle. So glad everything came together and your event went wonderfully!! Please share some photos if you’re comfy ❤️
