FF and I met at the KOP Mall (in PA) Tiffany''s last night after work to check out some stuff. The main reason we went was so I could try on the Victoria ring (RB Aquamarine center stone with 0.91 cts in 8 marquise cut diamonds). I have always admired this ring and thought it would be an unconventional additional choice for him to throw into the pot of options for my e-ring. Its well within our budget too. The ring was LOVELY but covered the entire top surface of my ring finger (which is a 5.5). I tried it on with a semi-eternity shared prong wedding band and the plain knife edge band to complete the look. It was certainly attention grabbing but I don''t think I want or need that much finger coverage for an every day e-ring. Could make a wonderful RHR though... maybe for my PhD graduation??

So while we were there we tried on a wide range of sizes in center stones in the classic Tiffany setting. We tried on 0.75-0.8 cts (which is what we can afford from there) and then 1.25 cts (which is what we can afford from James Allen/Whiteflash/GOG/Blue Nile etc...). We concluded that either would be great so I''ve left it up to him. He didn''t really give me any hints as to what he was thinking unfortunately. His only comment was "I have all the information I need now." The sales associate who originally ordered the Victoria ring wasn''t in last night but FF took his card and said that he would be in touch to talk about bringing in more choices in our price range. The rings I tried on there were VVS1-2 stones and I certainly don''t need that!

Whew- sorry for the long post but my best friend couldn''t care less about engagement rings or jewelery so you guys get to listen to my excited babble.

That is very exciting...congratulations! WOOHOO! Sounds like he''s thinking Tiffany''s all the way!

That''s exciting!!! Definitely sounds like Tiffany''s is the direction he''s leaning towards.

How exciting! I happened to try on a .71ct Tiffany Setting out of a few Tiffany Settings and it looked great and I have a size 5.5 hand too. I thought it looked so much larger than what it was on my hand. (I also have shorter fingers too) Im wishing for a Tiffany so hopefully one day, FF will get me one!! (fingers crossed!)

Sounds like your FF is definitely leaning towards a Tiffany!!!

Have you ever checked out the LINK: under 1ct diamonds in SMTR? Beautiful rings over there all under 1ct.

The more I have thought about last night the more I have gotten excited about the prospect of a Tiffany engagement ring. The reasonable side of me is saying "No NO!! You know how much diamonds cost! You know what else you can get for the budget and its so much bigger!!!"

but then the little giggly jewelery fiend inside is going "OHHHHH YAYYYY!!! You might just be wearing a Tiffany ring some day! WOOOOOO! WE LOVE THE BLUE BOX!!!"

I think that I have gone back to the Tiffany website at least three times today and gazed as the classic solitaire and recalled the way it looked in the mirror on my hand in the store (under those sparkle-enhancing spotlights they use in there).

In total honesty the vision of THAT ring makes my heart go pitter-patter. But of course, the greatest thought going through my mind right now is how lucky I am to have FF in my life and how I can''t wait to start a life together as husband and wife.

Please be sure you know the risks with having an aquamarine. They''re pretty delicate and it''s not a stone you should wear 24/7 unless you are okay with the idea of repairing/replacing it down the line.

Some people have aqua e-rings and no problems, but my cousin has chipped hers 4 times and now only wears it on special occasions.

I know you''ve probably nixed the idea, but I thought I''d mention it just in case anyone else was thinking of going that route!
