So I''ve gotten several of those fake emails lately claiming I''ve won money or something from a certain company... probably 3 or 4 from the same "company". I just delete them. Well, today I checked the mail and I got an actual LETTER from this same "company"! I know its fairly easy to get someone''s email address to send out these mass email scams... but how did they ALSO get my address?! It makes me wonder what other information they may have of mine. Is there anything I can do? Or should I just ignore it all?

I get the same emails, probably 7-8 per day. There''s not much you can do about it. I mark them as spam, but they send them from different accounts. And it''s really not that hard to get someone''s address too. You''d be surprised how much personal info just hangs there in the internet. As a general manager of a company all my personal data is required when we submit the company papers, balance sheets and so on. I recently found out that it''s ALL there in the internet, on the sites of the differents government institutions - address, phone numbers, all of it. It''s pretty much the same with health insurance, bank credits, etc. All these "companies" need is someone who works there to sell them that info. There was actualy a recent case of such an employee who was selling personal data of his firm''s clients. As I said, not much we can do about it.

Ughh thats so frustrating. I don''t mind the emails that much but it really bothered me that the same people had both my email AND street address. I can''t believe people would sell my privacy to scammers.

I know, it''s awful. My hubby got a phone call a few days ago from a woman who claimed she''s a representative of an insurance company and wanted to offer him a life insurance and a meeting where they can discuss it. When he asked (quite harshly since he''s not the most patient guy in the world

) how did she get his number, she started mumbling and stuttering that someone gave her his card but couldn''t remember who. Then she continued pushing for a meeting and wanted to know his exact address. So he pretty much told her to *** (use your imagination here

). He was really mad when he told me about it. For some reason I found it really amusing that she was so desperate to get his address and presumed she was a secret admirer who just wanted to get a date with him. He didn''t think it was funny though. lol

A phone call!? AAAGGGHHHHH.... maybe she really was a secret admirer... or STALKER! lol

My Dad got a phone call a few years ago that he had won a new Thunderbird (they had just released that new version of it). He said he never entered. They insisted he did. He told them to quit scamming him, never to call him again and hung up.

Fast forward to my step-mom and sister arriving home. Dad tells them what happened. They look at him and tell him they entered him in a drawing and forgot to tell him! They were ready to kill him. I guess they drew another name because Dad never got the car.

Yesterday I won 1.5 million. I''m rich!

It is probably a coincidence but I would call your local cop shop in case they know something you don''t. If they are not aware of a new scam then I would ignore it and sleep easy.
