I realise I''m not a LIW anymore, but I''m not getting married for three years so I thought I''d just hang here for a little longer

Aaron and I are busy planning our engagement party- it is going to cost alot more than I had first anticipated. Luckily though, after much searching and many quotes we have found a great venue in our price range

It is at a rowers club about 10 minutes from here, it is right on the water and has massive bay windows so it should be lovely. We''ve chosen to have a cocktail style function on a Sunday afternoon in February (which is our summer). I''m really excited- I''ve already chosen some invitations and a cake!

On a non-related wedding/engagement note, I have quit university. Well, quit might not be the right word.. but I have cancelled my enrollment from my university and am applying for a different degree at a different university. So.. i''m going from a Bachelor of Marketing and PR/Bachelor of Communications to a Bachelor of Arts/Master of education (secondary). I have this massive sense of relief and excitement.. I have added another year to my studies but I can''t see the point of spending another 3 years at university for a degree I don''t want or a career i''m not interested in. I never really considered teaching as a career until recently, but the more I think of it the more I feel I am suited to it

Has anyone else changed degree''s/career paths? Was it the right decision?

Anyway, that is my little update

Hope everyone is happy and healthy!

I have no advice for your re. changing degree/career path, but I just wanna say tt the cake is beautiful and will b even more gorgeous with tiffany blue ribbons! Is the lower tier part of the cake? It looks like a diamond studded pillow...

Dannielle, I did the school/career change thing, and it was one of the best decisions I''ve ever made. I was in law school, and hating it. I dropped out (and got some harsh reactions from my peers), and applied to grad schools for software engineering instead. Big change. It was a difficult transition at first, but I''m so happy that I did what I did! I''m actually passionate about what I do now, and that''s a huge deal for me. I hope it works out just as well for you, and that you love teaching :)

p.s. love the cake!

Danielle - Your invitations are adorable and the cake is gorgeous! Sounds like it will be a great engagement party. I switched degrees from pre-med (sorta, my school didnt have a pre-veterinary program so I was doing pre-med with plans of going to vet school) to interior design. I''m happier, but I added time onto my schooling just as you did. I''m getting impatient now and itching to graduate. All I can say is make sure you stay on top of your classes and take as much as possible. I''m not sure if you have a counselor to help you switch your scheduling and figure out what you need to take for your new degree, but if you do stay on top of the information they''re giving you. Everyone I know who''s switched majors has found out last minute that they didn''t take a certain class or classes and need to do it in an extra semester or two to graduate. Its hard at first, but the more research and double check your new requirements for your degree now the less you''ll have squeeze in later. Good luck

Beautiful cake and invites!

I completely understand where you are coming from with your school situation. I am a Biology major and it has been nothing but a struggle the entire time. I was pre-med and then I took organic chemistry which just about killed me, and now I''m thinking maybe a vet or something in marine sciences. At one point in organic, I had studied for a test for 3 weeks just to fail it, and I was so mad that I changed my major to Bio Ed. Then, I ended up switching back to Biology. Luckily, I only took 1 Education class and it didn''t put me behind with reference to my graduation date. You should definately make sure that you are doing something that you love because you do not want to be stuck in a career you hate for the rest of your life. Another year or 2 of school that might be added if you change majors is a small sacrafice when considering the long term change you are making. Go for it! And, don''t hesitate if you start another major and hate it and want to switch again. Of course you are going to try to avoid this by picking a major you are pretty sure you will enjoy, but you never know until you are actually in the classes. Good luck!!!

Your cake is gorgeous! I too changed my career/education pretty quickly. I have a BA in Journalism and have worked in the news industry for 3 years. I''m now earning an MPA to work in government management, because I''d like to manage a public affairs office for a government organization. I felt that same sense of relief over starting a career I could actually work in long-term :) Congratulations!
