a LIW in europe :)

hello! i'm very new to this forum, only discovered it recently but i've quickly become addicted to reading all these different threads!

even though this is quite unlike me (i'm usually always and forever a lurker in these things), i decided on a whim to post here and become a LIW - a term i've never heard of before!

mostly because although i have talked to my closest friends about the engagement plans BF and i have, none of my friends are quite at that stage yet and i don't feel comfortable bombarding them with this stuff. BF loves talking about our plans and seems to find it sweet that i'm so excited, but i also don't want to over-talk about it and let it kill the anticipation. so here i am on this forum, in what seems like very good company

a little info about our relationship: i'm 24, he's 28. we're currently in a long distance relationship between two european countries, but were together for 3 years in the same city before this. we started talking about engagement and marriage a couple of months ago, and things have pretty much been moving steadily forward since then. he's getting the ring custom made so we've come up with a design i love, and am so excited for! he also understands the waiting game is excruciating, so he's given me september/october of this year as the timeframe within which he plans to propose. obviously, this seems so far to me right now! but the sweetheart that he is, he's whisking me off to a holiday in greece in the summer to make the wait a little sweeter.

i have a sneaking suspicion that the sept/oct clue is to throw me off and he might do it earlier (he's the most romantic guy ever and is a pro at surprises), but i'm not getting my hopes up! right now i'm just enjoying the last few months i have as a girlfriend

hope to start contributing to the interesting conversations floating around these parts!

thanks! audball, yes i did have a say in the design, although it was very much a combined effort - he has excellent taste in jewellery, so i actually trust him more than i trust myself after agreeing on the details, i'm now in the dark as to when it will be made. though lately, i'm getting a little suspicious that the proposal is coming sooner than i thought....!!

hmmm... well, he is very very good at doing surprises and i'm the most gullible person in the world. but i have a tiny sneaking suspicion that he's trying to be "too" good about it, as in mentioning things like he's getting the ring in the summer, that he won't finalise anything with the jeweller until then, his friend (who is planning to propose to his SO) will definitely get engaged first this summer, etc. and it would be completely normal if he just mentioned these things once or twice, but his reinforcement of these kinds of facts is making me a little bit suspicious!

also, as i mentioned, he's taking me away to greece in a couple of months, and the more i think about it, the more i wonder whether he plans to do it then, because the trip is way too extravagant and luxurious to just be a "random" trip. also other details that i won't bore you with, have made me question his "it's after the summer for sure" statements... i may be totally wrong, and either way i don't have too long to wait, but i admittedly do feel very excited when i entertain the idea of getting engaged in just a couple of months!! we'll see
