A more complete sim poll

Oh boy...Great poll... I guess #2 but for me it would read "I wore sims until i could afford real but never passed the sims off as real--if people asked, i told them it was CZ." ??? I never felt the need to lie about it being a CZ. I really don't care what people think; I wear diamonds for ME.

I'm with Jennifer. I've never tried to pass my sim studs off as real. I wore them because they were practical and really looked so good that it was hard to justify spending the $$ on something that would look the same. (I still wonder if it will really show a difference, but the Hearts on Fire studs I tried on recently convinced me that it would. I hope it wasn't just the store lighting! )

I voted the Yuck to sims; but, I'm not that emotional about it. It's just not for me. I may feel differently if I had pierced ears & wore studs of any fashion.

That said, I do have some vintage jewelry set w/ marcasites & austrian crystals. Would you call them sims? They never were meant to be "fake".

Hmm sorry sweetie, but I don't think I fit neatly in any of the above. I guess I would be YUCK to Sims, but I do have my Signity Star pendant, bought out of curiousity due to H&A and worn very sparingly, now relegated to be worn never now that I have my pendant. So I could be 'I wear sims until I get diamonds' but I wouldn't wear any other sims but that pendant...I'm not a sim person. I do wear crystals in earrings and the like...but those are crystals.




So where do I fit?!

My response is, "I have nothing against sims in principle, but I haven't found any that looked good to me." That said, I'd never wear sims. I don't think they're "yuck," exactly, they're just not me and I'd rather wear a few smaller 1/2 carat diamonds than large 1+ carat similants because this is just me.

Mara, I think you're in the 'nothing against sims in principle, haven't found any you like' category. No? You did buy the signity pendant, but you don't really like it. Unless you do hate them in principle but just bought it to be sure?

I don't HATE sims, some in fact look quite beautiful, I just would rather wait and wear a diamond than a big ole sim. Also alot of times their retail prices are too expensive! My SS was $200 or more in retail stores but on eBay it was $20. Much more inline with the 'experiment' I was looking for.

Sims are way too expensive! There is no way I'd spend $400 for a similated diamond! Personally, I'd rather either buy a pretty colored stone or a couple silver pieces from Tiffany and Co

I love my floating heart pendant and this suits me much better than a sim diamond pendant.

I chose number one. I have diamonds, but I don't always wear them. For instance, when I am at work. I am a nurse and wouldn't be caught wearing my real diamond rings. I wash my hands too much and wear gloves all the time. I don't want to have to worry about my jewelry when I am at work.

I own a pair of 1.0 ctw earrings, a 1 carat pendant and a two carat solitaire ring. I got the set a few months ago when I was waiting to get my real diamond. I can't say that I wear them often and when I have worn them, I never try to pass them off as the real thing.

People have asked me if they were real, and I tell them the truth. I don't get offended by their asking me either. In fact I tell them where I bought it, how much I paid and ask if they would like me to help them order ones for themselves.

The one thing I have to say is that I would never wear a sim if I couldn't afford the real thing in the same size.
