Now this is probably the best stone quality-wise that I have bought from him.
I shall post its photos - today is not a good day, I forgot my camera at work, the pyrope is there, so no chance of photography. I shall post it later, promise.
It looks salmon in real life. I never saw a padparacha, but in my imagination, this is the pad color. Very unusual for pyrope. The cut makes it brilliant.
Interestinly enough, I thought it was pyro-spessartite. Well, a pyrope is even better because it is harder than most garnets. Thanks, Uli! I definitely plan to set it. Fellows, do you think palladuim will be OK color-wise? I know gold is better but I have so many projects to invest into, just do not want to spend too much on it.

Wow!

I love the colour. As you said, it is very unusual and I would never have guessed garnet. How large is it and what are your plans?

Love the colour, can't wait to see the IRL photos.

beautiful colour! Have you thougth about a simple rose gold setting?, Althouhg I think platinum would be a nice choice too.

Oh man, crasru! That is the most gorgeous stone  What a catch! Did you purchase this one a few weeks ago? I haven't seen it recently and I seem to recall you mentioning that he had some new stones up and that you had bought something. Perhaps I'm mistaken. Well, I can't wait to hear the stats on it and how you are going to set it. I think it would look lovely in platinum (it's definitely worthy!).

Lady Disdain - it is 6.2 x 4.2. Here is the trick when you buy from Uli - if he says that the color is great, buy safely. If he says that the cut is great but doesn't mention the color - then you will get the greatest cut but the color will probably vary from so-so to average. You'll never get bad stones but he is honest in his descriptions. Actually, you have to search for "great" or "wonderful" color because his cuts are trademark. This one said "the best pyrope I ever received from Tanzania".
Aoife - thank you! Simple rose gold may be somewhat a stretch because I have this CC garnet worth setting (Trisko's setting is
$ 2000.00). Then a spessartine from Gene (!!) and a Barringo ruby, also from him (!!!). Something else that I have ordered from our esteemed cutter and that will require a special setting, or so I hope. So I have to settle for something simpler or talk to a yet inexpensive etsy artisan.
I'll switch over to LOGR I think. But these stones won't look well in LOGR.
Newbaglover - thank you for your kind words!
Baby Nurse - thank you for your support!

I have been looking to osirisgems stones and the cuts are beautiful! Yours is a octagon cut? can you set this cut in a standard round cut semi mount or do you need a special shaped mount? I am so new, I need to learn a lot!

Very pretty, and a 7-sided cut really catches my eye.

yay, I can see this one too now that I'm on my home computer. :appl: Very pretty salmony color.

I think you can set it in a LOGR or LanBo semi-mount but you need to order one with additional prongs. I am not sure it will look good in it, though. I'd say, finding a not-so-expensive jeweler who will invest time in it could work better. There was a thread about etsy artisans - they have mentioned several names. I am trying to find a couple of other threads by Arcadian - she seems to have a list of good "etsies", too.

Crasru, you did it again! You seriously buy the coolest gems! I love everything about this stone, it's beautiful. :))

Thank you, BB! Now regarding the coolest gems - look who is talking! What is there in your avatar?

I recently bought a couple of semi-minerals, or faceted minerals. Or unmountable gems. I am afraid of even opening packages... God knows what is in them... They are too small to be displayed on shelves and likely not gemmy enough. But rare.

Colour-wise, it is fabulous! It’s a wonderful pink orange colour with eye popping saturation. I’m sure there must be 8 pronged round generic settings around somewhere? I’m definitely seeing a rich yellow gold setting for this stone.

    WOW! I adore your new stone crasru!

Beautiful color! There seems to be too much choice on the color spectrum to buy just 1 species!

It's gorgeous! Love that color.

Simply stunning!

Have you ever seen Palladium in real life? I have a pair of earrings that have been white rhodium plated to death BUT the metal still looks white with a hint of grey. On that basis, I wouldn't use Palladium for your gorgeous stone. I would definitely use white gold and get it rhodium'ed rhodium'ed rhodium'ed to give it a high gloss sparkly white finish (definitely yummylishous)! :lickout:

Great colour.

Thank you, Newbaglover, Kenny and TL!
Thank you, Chrono, BrandyZ28 and Sparkles!
Sparles - my stone next to yours must look like Mercury next to the Sun.
BB - alluding again to your avatar...
Thank you, Kismet and oddoneout.
LD - thank you for teaching me about palladium. I never saw it in real life. It is not large, perhaps bezeling it gold could work well? This color could stand white gold, actually, may look better in white gold (usually I am not a WG person at all). I just do not know whether star cuts can be bezeled or it technically difficult and 7-prongs is a must.
I took some photos today but the day was so drizzly. Perhaps I shall wait for the sun. Weekends are usually better. I promise to post it!

Very nice stone crasru!! Love it!

Crasru,
I’ve seen palladium rings IRL after several months of wear and they just look dingy and a dark gray. It seems to me that platinum retains its “whiteness” better than palladium?

Love the colour and the shape is pretty interesting.

Please let me know how you are planning to set the octagon. I am having issues trying to figure out how to set mine (see Oh no thread). I'd love to hear what avenues you explore.

Crasru's stone above is actually a septagon (seven sided) which might need more of a custom setting to look even.

Thank you, Laila, cemrn, Lovinggems, Chrono and TL!

TL - you are right, I counted the angles several times because everyone (except for Kenny, I think - he has noticed it!) who has mentioned the angles was saying, "octagon". Is octagon a typical star cut?

I have found the thread with a couple of Arcadian's vendors - they are by no means cheap but look promising. Let this one lie in my jewelry box for a while, though. I am engaged in another project with Gene's garnet.

Thanks Crasru! I'm counting the days until my next cab project is done, I have less than three months to go and I'm starting to get excited. I can't wait to see what you do with this stone and your new minerals sound really neat!
