I watch the new listings daily over at http://www.fancydiamonds.net/new_diamonds.

Today this 1.01 ct VS1 diamond showed up, but someone already bought it.

I'm guessing it had an attractive price since GIA gave it a brown modifier, Fancy Brown Orange.
(I've been looking at browns and orange-browns lately)

To my eyes the color looks much like a pad sapphire.
Do you agree? or is it too brown?

How would the face up look compare to a real pad sapphire if they had the same color and cut (obviously they'd have different depths to compensate for the difference in RI) ?

As you're probably beginning to learn, FCD's often change color a lot based on the lighting element and the angle of viewing, fluorescence, etc. . . That diamond, as I'm guessing, probably has a stronger brown modfier than a high quality orange-pink sapphire (sorry, I hate the marketing term, "padapradscha," because I gave up on what that term exactly means :knockout: ).

A comparison pic.

Thank you.
Yes, quite a difference.

I still think it's a beautiful stone. Love to see it in person.

Ooooooh I like!

Can see why you'd compare to a Pad but it's lacking the pink tones (although does have the orange). I wonder what the fluor does to it's colour in sunlight. I sourced a similar colour diamond for my friend for her engagement ring and the fluor actually lightens the brown turning the diamond more orangey/champagne (not a great description - sorry) which is interesting BUT as it's set in white gold it does tend to diminish its beauty and it starts to blend too much with the setting. I'm sorry that's a horrible way to describe a diamond and I'm sure you're scratching your head but what I'm trying to say is that in real life, this colour diamond can lack a spectacular jaw dropping colour in some lights.

It's so pretty, but to me looks more like a merger between sunstone and diamond. I'm really liking that coppery tone.

ETA: Meanwhile, I saw this diamond and fell off my chair.

Oh YUM Nashville!!

I'd sooner have the diamond than the pad posted.

Wow, that color is insanely gorgeous!

I have a .57 radiant diamond that is similar color to the first pic. I think I paid all of $350 for it (no cert). I think the brown reduces the price a lot and I'm OK with it, but a more fastidious person probably wouldn't be. It's kind of a copper-brown-pink.

Have we seen pics of this diamond? :naughty:

It's in my safe deposit box at the bank but I think I need to pry it out next week and do a thread of my random loose stones!

I like the brownish color-would be interesting to see what it looks like IRL.

Is that a color you're looking to get next Kenny, or you're just looking b/c it's fun?
