Hi All,
I just need a second to panic here-thanks for humoring me.
I was inspired by AmberGretchen''s cute bio, and I searched through a bunch of bios on theknot.
I suddenly fell into a state of panic. These girls really know what they are doing!!
I''m sure you girls do too!
I, on the other hand, know nothing!!
Whew, okay, I know that I have a year--but the details, the details! I''m not sure I''m cut out for this!

Hey there. I''m right there with you.

I know nothing.

It''s overwhelming to me and makes me think about eloping.

thank goodness Morticia!
I knew that I couldn''t be alone in all this! It certainly comforts me to know that you are feeling just as confused as I am!
Thanks!

No, you''re not alone. I have a long time to go (Feb or March 2007) so I''m not really stressing yet.

The details are nuts, aren''t they? Good thing about The Knot is you can learn from people there, and if they provide the vendors they use/used - even better.

It honestly does make me wonder about a big wedding though. I just don''t know if I really have the energy or desire to deal with all the details.

tybee-
don''t worry about it. 6 mo. ago, I knew nothing about weddings. It feels like I''ve had a crash course on it, and after the ''final'' (my wedding day) I''ll probably forget it all!!!! (hm... what a waste! hopefully I can give advice to friends in the future!)

I think there are a lot of ppl on the knot who spend a lot more time than the average bride in planning their wedding, and taking even more time to share it with others... (incl me!) so like morticia said, just take advantage of all their ideas and resources to make your life easier, and not to stress yourself out!!

I''ve gotten so many cool ideas/pics from knot bios and suggestions from the local nor cal msg boards that I never would''ve had... at the same time, I''m trying not to go overboard.... hehe...

If you want to look at a pretty incredible list of knot bios, I highly recommend
here

but dont look at it if it still stresses you out!

Personally, I''m finding that once I''ve gotten all my big vendors, like the location, caterer, photog, florist, it''s been pretty smooth sailing... the details need to be taken care of, but they can be delegated!!

Flopkins and Morticia,
Seriously,
Thanks!
I''ve been working full time and going to grad school full time, and now I finally have a break. I''ve been spinning in circles because I feel like I SHOULD be doing something. So, I decided to freak out instead of being productive--sometimes I just have to stand back and laugh at myself.
Thanks for your help. I really have enjoyed the knot bios... but they make me feel slightly inadequate. Maybe once I''ve gotten started.
Fiance and I are leaving for St. John on Wednesday to meet with wedding planners and have a mini vacation. When we return I''m sure to be FILLED with ideas and plans. Hurrah for the Virgin Islands, let''s hope they don''t blow away in a storm before we get there! 5 more days!!!!!!

Awww Tybee, relax!! I bet any married girl will tell you she felt the same thing when first starting to plan! If I may make a suggestion, figure out what your priorities are and go from there. Whatever YOU like and want to concentrate on could be a great starting point for you. Grab some magazines and tear out what catches your eye and throw it in a binder. You''d be surprised how things can fall into place. I got one of those wedding planning binders and it helped a lot. Also, think about your dress and your girls dresses and try to get that out of the way soonest since you may need to order it and it takes several months to arrive.
Good luck and don''t forget to breathe!
