Is my birthday and I have a feeling the proposal could be then!! We are going to NYC the 9th and the 10th of October, so it COULD be then as well. I know the ring is done and he has it (it's somewhere in the apartment, but I have not allowed myself to look for it..soooo hard!!) and I would imagine that he would choose one of those "events" to pop the question. The anxiety is driving me insane!!! Thankfully I am a full-time nursing student and have little down time, so my studies can keep me SEMI busy lol. So, maybe in a week's time I will be writing my engagement post!!!! EEEEEEEEKKKKKK!!! :appl:

ETA: Shellac Mani this weekend?? YES PLEASE!!!

Absolutely shellac :appl: :cheeky:

lots of ******DUST****** OrchidVee, that it be one of those two - id vote NYC though - so romantic and then you get two special days :love: :bigsmile: happy birthday for next week too btw :wavey:

~~~DUST~~~ :appl: :appl:
Definitely go for a shellac manicure. I have heard great things about them though I haven't had one.
Even if he doesn't propose, I'm sure you will have a fabulous birthday and NYC trip! Enjoy yourself and make sure to keep us updated!
SO exciting! Do you guys have plans for your birthday itself?
I think my proposal might be coming next weekend, and I am planning a shellac manicure next week before it too :)
Thank you everyone!! I have gotten shellac many times and it is definitely worth it. I just get a tad bit worried because of clinicals and being in the hospital. Tips are a definite no no, but polish is allowed as long as it isn't chipped; which is why I decided to go shellac instead of a regular mani. Oh well, if they tell me to take it off, at least it will look good for some pictures haha.
No plans for my birthday yet. Usually we would have planned something, but we haven't done that this year yet. I will probably wait it out a little longer and see if he suggests something. I don't want to plan something and ruin whatever he has planned in his head. I will keep you all updated though!
Is a shellac mani the same as a gel mani? I'm thinking it is--I have only heard it called a gel mani, but I think shellac makes more sense. In any case, YES, get one!!! I got one on Saturday in anticipation of *hopefully* getting my ring this week and my nails still look perfect! I LOVE how long the shellac/gel lasts!!! For the first time in ages, all my nails were actually the same length so I got French mani. Not typically my style, but it's pretty :)
Tuffy, shellac =gel. I love it! It lasts for 2 weeks and still looks great! I did buy some Sally Hansen Manicure in a bottle and I have had it on since Saturday and it hasn't chipped yet! That's another alternative if you don't feel like doing the gel mani. I'm not sure which I will do yet, but either one will look great with the ring!
Sending dust your way!!! Keep us updated!
Oooh! I'm gonna get some manicure in a bottle next time I'm at target! Thanks for the tip! I seriously keep looking at my nails, thinking "wow--this is seriously the best my nails have looked all year! They are all the same length, and my mani is perfect--the white is just the right thinness so my nailbeds don't look stubby... He better do it soon!!" hahaha. So ridiculous!!
DUST!!!
I used to always get shellac done .... however, It was disappointing that it only lasted 2 weeks.... I then tried the color gel (as my bf's sister is in love with that stuff) but it is just to thick for me.. *when it grows out.. as well i like to feel my nails when i scratch something lol...
Anyways, My point is... I found something I am In love with even more than shellac.... it is called seaweed gel...
It is basically the same as shellac, but extremely thin and hard to really even tell when it is growing out, as well it lasts around 3-4 weeks (depending on how rough you are on your hands!)
Just thought I would share that since I read this thread and I am in love with it!!!! I also do not have the time to go get my nails done every 2 weeks... once a month seems more reasonable for a mani and pedi!!
Hope this helps :-)
