Hello everyone!
I can''t beleive it''s actually my time to write the "I''m engaged" post! We became engaged this past Saturday.
Hooray! I must put a word of warning here though, I don''t have any pictures for now, and I am sincerely sorry for that. All of my stuff, including my digital camera transfer cord, is in boxes being shipped to me as I just moved cross-country. It may take some while to get pictures from my camera. I''m trying to get pictures as fast as I can though, because I can''t wait to share my wonderful ring!
Here''s the details though....
Last week my BF was at my graduation and he gave me a card letting me know it was my graduation gift, which told me we were doing something the next weekend that was a surprise. So I was a bit on alert for a possible engagement. He told me to pack for a trip and bring a bikini and a little black dress. Then he flew back to where he lives and I packed up and moved there this week.
This Saturday came and we set off on the trip. We started driving, and in the direction we were driving I thought we might be going to the place where we went to college and first met (a beautiful beach resort town which is probably our favorite place in the world). A couple hours later we were in the area, but he kept driving past, so I was confused. Then as we were at the edge of leaving the area, he took an exit I didn''t know. Then we pulled into this amazingly fabulous and luxurious, gorgeous resort -- I knew about it but we had never been there and I had forgotten about it. I was thrilled.
We had a nice lunch overlooking the ocean, spent the rest of the day having drinks relaxing by the pool. Later we got ready for dinner, and were leaving the room when he said he had one more surprise for me, and we walked down to the beach. I felt it would happen then, but when we got there and he put down a blanket for us, he said something like "I know this isn''t the gift you''re expecting..." and he gave me a large Tiffany''s box. I was very confused (the box was the size of a vase), but when I opened the box there were 2 champagne glasses, one saying "will you" and the other "marry me?" It was absolutely romantic and cute and thoughtful and I loved it. Then he gave me the box and asked me, and I opened it to find the most beautiful ring in the entire world.
Then we went to a special restaurant for us and had an amazing dinner and wine and celebrated and talked all night about the future.
He totally outdid himself and I couldn''t imagine a more beautiful ring. It is a custom design (by a PS vendor), platinum, very thin band with pave 3/4 the way down, with a basket-type platform for the center stone, with pave all in the basket -- similar to the Daniel K designs I have loved so much -- but even better!
I couldn''t be any happier with the ring, it is absolute perfection to me, He really surprised me with the center stone. I had originally thought I wanted a emerald cut but after seeing a radiant last year I decided I wanted a radiant instead, and he liked the radiant too. But my ring has a emerald cut center stone and it is breathtaking and goes perfectly with the pave. He decided an emerald cut was better and he was completely right. I don''t know all the specs, because at this point I don''t really care at all, but I do know the center stone is a bit more than 2 carats.
Hopefully I can show you all soon with pictures!
Thank you everyone, for reading my posts and giving me advice and telling me to hang in there. I''m absolutely thrilled and am so excited to start this new chapter in life!
