Considering adding side stones to my Oval Diamond. Hoping someone has experience with this and can give an opinion or advice. Center stone is 2 carats and side stones around 1.4 carats each. Will this look good being that the side stones will lay where the oval tapers in? I want it to have a seamless look and no gaps between the diamonds. Set low on a simple band. Also, do these stones look good together? Appreciate help, thanks! 22203507-40BA-4DBB-A3F9-363B025ED619.jpeg

Your side stones seem a little large to me.

Here is one where I like the proportions (don't care for the prongs but you get
the drift).

I agree. I liked the bigger stones at first. But I don’t think I will get the flush look I am wanting. I don’t want gaps. Here is the original setting I had (still have diamonds. 87D70548-3E88-4DD1-BF5C-2BFE90528059.jpeg

If I'm understanding correctly, you have an oval with half Moon side stones already, but your looking at increasing the side of the side stones only? If that's the case, I like the proportions of your existing ring's side stones already.

What is it about the existing ring that you don't like or are wanting to change? Finger coverage? Sparkle factor? Size increase?

The size of the stones as a whole and the setting. It feels and looks cheap, even though it’s platinum. I want the stones to have a flush look as if the 3 stones are one large stone. I assume that the side stones will have to be smaller to get the flush/1 stone look?

This pic is another option of stones, similar in size to the large stones, but wider.
Also open to other side stones that will look good with my oval (besides ovals.) EA12160C-86CB-49AC-BD02-18F03CD49E0B.jpeg

It's funny because I actually think your current stones do achieve that look. Like you mentioned, the setting (and the thick, round tipped prongs) is really distracting and throwing off that desired elegance that I think is what you'd like to have.

I would consider using the money to get the setting remade by a real artisan (hand forged perhaps?) So that you can have get a more seamless and flowing look. staggering the oval above the side stones may allow the prongs for the side stones to sit under the girdle and be invisible from the top. Tiny well made claw prongs would help add refinement and elegance to your current stones.
(Top is by Turgeon Raine in Seattle) (2nd is a moissanite ring by Ourosjewel on Etsy where the prongs are "hidden" inside the outline of the half moons on the flat edge)

If it really is size, here's an example with half moons that are larger, but they also have teeeeny tiny claw prongs in well placed locations

I love this, because that's like saying "I used oil paints for this piece, how come it doesn't look like a Van Gogh?"

It's the artist, not the material :D

Ditto @emmy12

I like the size of side stones you currently have but the prongs are throwing it off and I wonder if the side stones are tilted just a little
too much (so you're not getting that "large" stone look)?

Do you have a side view of your current side stone setting you can post?

I feel like the bigger stones make your center stone look small (which it's not).

Oh what about something like this in platinum?

I was also wondering if you were able to find any crescent moon side stones (vs the half moon side stones you found)?

I think they give a smoother transition from the side stones to the center stone. Unfortunately, I think they are harder to find.
