Etiquette mavens, I need some help. I have a few crazy situations that no website addresses!

1. My uncle and his partner are both doctors. Would it be:
Doctors John Doe and Bob Smith?

2. My aunt and her husband + her son and his GF. We''re not sending her her own, because we don''t know her and it would be weird coming from a stranger. I think anyway.
Mr. and Mrs. John Doe
Mr. Bob Smith and Ms. Jane Hill ???

3. This is a suuuuper crazy one. FI''s uncle, his common law wife, his daughter, his son, her son, their son. Got that?

Mr. John Doe and Ms. Jane Smith
Ms. Jenn Doe, Mr. Bob Doe, Mr. Sean Smith and Mr. Frank Doe

That''s in order of age, should Bob and Frank be combined as Messrs.? Other? Holy moly...

1. Not sure about the Doctos. I would do it alphabetically
2. How old is the son? If he''s over 18 he''s supposed to reveive his own invite and put her name afterwards like you have written. If he''s under 18, then I would only put the son, and then call your aunt to tell her that he can bring his girlfriend.

3. I would take the oldest sibling and start with that set on top. I am not putting any boys and girls on the same line. So something like this if the oldest child is a girl:

Mr. John Doe and Ms. Jane Smith
Miss Jenn Doe
Messers Bob Doe, Frank Doe, and Sean Smith (In order of age with eldest at beginning)

- For the doctors, it would be:

Drs. John Doe and Bob Smith (in alphabetical order)

- Do you know the GF''s name? If he''s under 18, I like what you''ve put and if you dont know her name ''and guest'' would be acceptable. Above 18, he gets his own invite and in that case, find out her name and put it on the invitation but it would be on the next line since they aren''t living together:

Mr. Bob Smith
Ms. Jane Hill

- You put Mr. John Doe and Ms. Jane Smith on outer, inner envelope would have Mr. John Doe and Ms. Jane Smith, followed by the names of the kids on the next line.

Also the ''AND'' technically implies marriage, so for your cousin & his girlfriend, you should put her name below his.

Yep! Mentioned that in my post above

I should mention too that we''re not doing inner envelopes. I really don''t want to spend the money on paper people throw away.

For the doctors, would you reverse the order if my uncle would alphabetically come last?

Hmm, do you have a spot for ''we have ___ number of seats reserved for you'' in your response card? If you do, I''d address the invite to Mr. and Ms. and put ''5 spots reserved for you'' and then follow up with a phonecall. I only say this because I feel putting everyone''s name on the front makes it very cluttered. You still have the option of putting everything on the outer envelope if you''d like (which I personally wouldn''t). Kids names go in the line below parent''s names.

As for your uncle, well, normally *I* put the woman''s name first always, regardless of who we know better. So I dont know what to do in this situation. I think I would do alphabetical, even if your uncle would end up being last. It''s woman first OR alphabetic, and then stick with that.

We were planning on doing that, yes! Good idea.

LOL, my uncle is the woman in the relationship, does that change anything.

I think I would put uncle last because he''s the main person you know. Last in the order = more authority in my crazy little mind, but it might just stem from publishing academic articles/papers

I think it''s up to you how you want to address your uncle and his partner.

Are you getting calligraphy?

Good lord no. Hahaha. Sorry, it''s just not something I wanna spend money on!

Haha, I was thinking about it for our place cards...but there are like only 3-4 places in Toronto that do caligraphy and they''re charging 1-1.50$ PER place card!!! People will just have to look through my yucky handwriting to find out where they''re sitting

lliang: Are you gettig a calligrapher?

I wish I had nicer handwriting!!!! I used to do pretty calligraphy in high school (was part of the calligraphy club), but I''ve lost it ALL. Hrmph.

I used to also! Now that I don''t have to write anything anymore, I don''t care what it looks like. LOL...

The printer is my friend now.
