Advice for emerald diamond

Hi guys,

Bit of a diamond rookie, first post.

I am looking at getting an emerald diamond for an engagement ring. Currently have my eyes on this one and was seeking some advice regarding quality/any flags with this diamond. Or any advice from people that have purchased emerald diamonds previously for qualities to look for/alternative options that you might think would be great.

Budget of $11,000 USD (for loose diamond) and hoping to get colourless (D-F) diamond. Looking to set with a yellow gold setting.

Hi. That diamond says not available. Did you buy it? EC's and other fancy cuts are difficult to buy online, not impossible, but there are a lot of parameters to look for. Karl_K is our "go-to" EC expert. He will give you an unbiased opinion. So, if you are still looking, tag Karl when you have some options. Also, whatever you do, make sure the vendor has a good return policy. The best way to evaluate the diamond is in person. Also, do your research. There are a lot of videos online about EC's and some comparing good and bad cut EC's
 
Thank you very much for your reply. I went to a local jeweller and it was over double the price (I am from Australia) for a what I thought was a 'similar' diamond (carat, colour, clarity)

I have put it on hold for 48hrs , hopefully you can still see the specs for it though.

Also looking to get a natural diamond around the 1.5 carat mark (however best bang for buck with one that looks good is more important than carat)

If your shopping for an EC from outside the USA you really need a full service vendor who can provide proper videos and an ASET image.
I can not make recommendations but the consumers can.

I say no to the latest two. The first has a couple of steps that go dark at the same time. The second one is not
flashing down in the center (those steps are doing nothing).

I still prefer the 1.55 over these two but I think you/Pricescope should keep looking to see if there is anything better out
there (or contact Johnathan).

Have you tried BlueNile? Adimor?

I have just filled out that form for distinctive gems that you sent. Sounds like a fantastic service.

I am slightly concerned about the 1.55 having a strong blue fluorescence as on further reading have seen that these can sometimes show up as hazy in natural light

I will keep looking until I find the best diamond possible

I would try and get an ASET for both to verify a few things.
Both have potential but an ASET would answer a few more questions.
