Hi guys,

I have this diamond on hold and I would like your opinion please.

It scored 0.8 on the HCA tool.

K SI1 0.46 carat
Table 56
Depth 61.4
Faint brown

I am not sure what the difference is but in the GIA says girdle is faceted - any idea?

Also it has very good polish - do you think this will effect its light performance / brilliance?

Appreciate your comments.

The pic and video look nice for the cut, do you have the lab report?

Hiya Double E,

Do u mean the GIA report.
You can download it on the Blue Nile website following the above link or I have attached it here. BN informed me the vendor had no equipment in order to provide ASET or ideal scope image so its not possible.

I think the proportions on the report is just fine and kind of what I like also. But with GIA rounding I will still be more confident with an ASET or IS.

I am also aware the polish is only very good which I am not sure will affect the lustre or performance or not. May be not~ but if we are looking for similar size which is not very massive, we should be able to be accesss to some with ex polish, I guess.

I am open to SI1 clarity, but one with only twinning wisps and feather, some assurances would be needed.

Btw, are you building a collection or creating a series of diamond pieces ? As I saw in your older threads you have been kept looking for stones, just curious~

Hiya,

Just got the ring today with the diamond in question. And it is on the small size obviously but really sparkly. Yes I am building my collection.

Which one is it? Top or bottom?

It is the bottom one, compared to my ER number 2 above which I also asked for advice on here at the end of 2020. I wanted to attach a video on here but it won't let me do it unless I go through other apps.

Sorry to bombard you with pix. But can u believe the ones on the left are both K colour? It's incredible, they look brighter than the J.

In this photo, it looks like there’s sharper contrast on the two K stones, not sure if this contrast difference persist in real life, but contrast does contribute to perceived brightness.

I guess I'm curious why you chose to go with a smaller solitaire than what you already have to expand your collection? Do you have some plan for it in the future?

Edit...

Forgot to say that it is a very pretty stone!

Thank you tyty333 - to be honest I really liked the .46 J (edit: I mean K) SI1 as a diamond on its own and just wanted to have it in my collection. I chose inexpensive setting to be able to wear it, maybe have it as a travel ring or whatever. Its just a different minimalist look. But, yes in the future I plan to upgrade my 1st engagement ring as the diamond I chose (oval) looks a little dead in certain lighting environment and leaks too much light. So I plan to reset the .46 K SI1 onto that setting and get new diamond and new setting for the upgrade. I will be back here then as it will be a much significant size diamond ;-)

This is number one which I am not fond of due to the light leakage and deep cut it looks glassy and shows too much yellow for H colour. So will have upgrade it in the future.

I think your first ering (the oval) is very pretty! I know what you mean though...my ering is a pear and like most pears has
some mushy areas.

I actually was looking for ideas at pear shape diamonds for an upgrade, priced cheaper too and with a bigger size 1.50 and above I think they may be more forgiving in terms of the underperforming mushy areas? But once I got my 1.13 K vvs2 I could not wear the .94 H oval again, the light return is so much better in the round brilliant especially in spot lighting when going out etc the sparkle is a lot more visible. I may look into Emerald cut even, but still don't know if this is a shape I would enjoy wearing.

I thought I would love an emerald cut but once I put it on my hand it didn’t suit me at all. Pretty on other people just not on me.
