Hi all,
I saw a pair of studs on Jewels by Grace and was hoping to get some feedback. What do you all think about the quality of these studs? I know they don't score low on the HCA, but would they make for a nice pair of earrings? I'm thinking about getting a new pair once my EC project is done and I'm just trying to get a feel for where my bar should be set... Thanks!

Is this pair a good price at $2895?

Hi OEC's,

Those are a lot of diamond for the money. For me, although they are an ok match diameter wise ( although I would prefer a little closer), as I am picky- I notice the optical symmetry ( arrows) are more pronounced on one stone than the other, the second diamond has more of a haphazard look to the internal faceting effect. One stone is also better proportioned than the other, possible with the less well cut stone that the L colour might be a bit more pronounced in some lighting. But these things won't be noticeable when worn on the ears anyway as you won't be directly comparing them, nor would anyone else come to that! The L colour might show some warmth too, would you be ok with it? Once you hit K and L colour grades the prices come down anyway so you could consider looking amongst these grades with an excellent cut if you are fine with it and maybe find a really well cut pair. These are nice certainly, especially for the price but it depends on budget and what you want.

I agree with everything Lorelei said, of course! They are at a good price point. I think in a case like this, you have to see them to know if they are for you. I will tell you that I ordered a pair of AVR's one time for studs and 1 was I color and one was J color. I could see the tint in the J. I found that brightness on the ear is part cut and part color. So I personally wouldn't care to have studs lower than I color, but that is just my preference. You may have to try them to see if they are for you. My tendency is that I can tolerate lower color in old cuts than modern rb's, too. But on the ears they will show up better if they are a higher color.

Hi Lorelei and DS, thanks for the advice. I had a hard time finding comps for these studs since they are Js. Good point DS on color tolerance in old cuts versus modern stones.

An upgrade isn't in my immediate future so this post was more for education purposes. Also, my current studs are from Jareds (graduation gift), so I'll have to find a way to sell them or work with a vendor that will do a trade in.
