Hi PS''ers,

I''ve been lurking for about two weeks and have decided to purchase the following stone for my GF. I wanted your opinions and if you think you can do better before I pull the final trigger. My budget was $25k on the stone and I (she) wanted something eyeclean, at least I color and as big as possible in an Ideal cut. I wanted to get closer to 2.5 ct, but couldn''t do it within the budget. My ideal stone would have been H/SI1 at least 2.3ct, but I couldn''t find anything.

. Report: AGS
. Shape: Round Brilliant H&A
. Color: I
. Clarity: SI1 (eye clean)
. Carat: 2.123
. Depth %: 60.5
. Table %: 55
. Crown Angle: 34.9
. Crown %: 15.7
. Pavilion Angle: 40.7
. Pavilion %: 42.9
. Girdle: Thin to Medium Faceted
. Measurements: 8.36-8.39X5.07
. Polish: Ideal
. Symmetry: Ideal
. Culet: Pointed
. Fluorescence: Negligible

This stone has pretty good spread for the carat weight.

My plan is to do a custom designed engagement ring inspired by theTacori HT232612X design, but with some significant changes to simplify a bit, thin the prongs, pave set diamonds, no scoll work, etc.
http://www.tacori.com/TACORI-SRCH/ENGAGEMENT/HT232612X-A-4-1-35-/

I basically want something for her that is unique and to her style as she does like antique and Art Deco look and pave set diamonds. Wedding ring would be a 3 sided pave all the way around (eternity ). I''m probably going to have it done in 950 Palladium as she doesn''t like the weight of platinum and I''m worried about the look of white gold over time.

Anyway, I just wanted to share my thoughts and see if any one had any feedback on my direction here.

Thanks,
Skirunman

ditto looks great!!! It will look lovely in the Tacori setting!

This diamond is gorgeous.

Welcome to Pricescope!

Looks like a gorgeous diamond - no worries!!

The diamond is stunning, no worries there! I just have a slight concern with your setting. The Ering has pave on the sides, if you keep it that way, and get a WB with pave on the sides, the stones may be rubbing together, not good. Make sure you check with Tacori about that!

It''s going to be a stuinning set!

Hi,

Thanks for all the feedback. I ended up purchasing this stone for $20k from Whiteflash and had them temporaily mount it in a 4 prong tiffany style setting because my custom ering desing is going to take at least 3 weeks and I plan to propose this weekend in NY. What do you all think?

Cheers,

Skirunman

Fabulous!

Perfection!
Are you really sure you want a Tacori?
I wouldn''t change anything, this ring is simple perfection!
I prefer it without side stones.
Congrats!

I love it like that too! Maybe the lady will want to keep the ring as it is :) Either way, great stone and the ring looks so stunning!

Hi Stephan,

As they say, it is not what I want, it is what she wants!

Anyway, just to be clear, I''m not getting a Tacori. I''m having Whiteflash custom design a ring in 950 Paladium that is "inspired" by the Tacori HT232612X, but with many changes. Initial specs are:

1. 2 x .25ct A Cut Above Side Diamonds F to G in color and VS clarity
2. Includes approximately 1.10ctw in A Cut Above Melee Diamonds F to G in color and VS clarity
3. 6 Surprise diamonds located below 3 main diamonds
4. 3mm Shank, no taper
5. 4 prongs, thinned to showcase diamonds
6. Profile View- pave set diamonds without scroll design to showcase diamonds
7. Milgrained edges along pave set diamonds

Anyway, plan is to get the CAD drawings back from WF after I propose so that fiance can make any last minute tweaks she desires. Who knows, maybe she will want to go with simple setting after all. I''ll post the CAD drawings when I get them.

Cheers,
Skirunman

I just wanted to say that it is gorgeous. Also, you are so thoughtful to put so much time and planning into this. She''s a lucky gal. Congrats!!

It looks really beautiful in that mounting - there is something so appealing about a simple solitaire setting.

That stone, is not simple at all - gorgeous!

PS''ers,

I got engaged last weekend in NY on the top of 30 Rockerfeller Center. Highly recommended. Here are a couple of hand shots of the diamond and one of the view.

Cheers,

It''s gorgeous! Congratulations!

Nice work! A beautiful stone. Congratulations on your engagement!!

i would check first if tacori has any issues with using stones purchased away from them.. if not.. you can definitely get a much cleaner stone for about the same price..

Looks fabulous!

HI:

Great ring--beautiful hand!

cheers--Sharon

Hi skirunman - Congratulations! It''s a gorgeous stone and your finace is an incredibly lucky lady. Don''t forget to post the CADs when you get them!

I do agree with Ellen - if you and your fiance decide to keep the three-sided pave on the engagement ring, you may be limiting your choice of wedding band when it comes time to decide the design of that as well. If your fiance wants to have a blinging wedding band, you don''t want the diamonds on both rings rubbing together in the future - so keep that in mind!

Here are the CAD''s from Whiteflash. Obviously the prongs won''t look like this in the final ring and also we are planning to put some fine millgrain along the edges of the pave set diamonds.

Cheers,

Skirunman
