Hello!

I'm hoping someone here can give me some advice about three stone engagement rings. I've already learnt a lot about diamonds from reading through this forum!

I haven't been able to find many three-stone options in stores to try on the different proportions and sized diamonds to see what works on my hand. My finger is a size I.5 or 4.5 in US sizing. I have tried a 1.5 middle with .5 sides and I found it looked too big (maybe that was the setting which was quite high or the fact I prefer the side stones to be around half of the middle stone). So I'm thinking either of the following could work (I know I am being pedantic and not sure if that is warranted or not as this is all new to me - so sorry in advance if this is a time waste!):
  • 1.3 with 0.6 sides - 2.5 total (Excellent Round Cut, D, SI1). Measurements: 1.3: 6.93 x 6.98 x 4.38 | 0.6: 5.31 x 5.38 x 3.38 | 0.6: 5.33 x 5.39 x 3.37
  • 1.2 with 0.5 - 2.2 total (Excellent Round Cut, D, SI1). Measurements: 1.2: 6.74 x 6.78 x 4.25 | 0.5: 5.07 x 5.11 x 3.20 | 0.5: 5.08 x 5.12 x 3.20
The jeweller told me that I won't notice a difference between these two options and could save €1,250 going for the smaller carat. Does this seem accurate?! Given we will already be paying a lot for the ring I would rather get it right.

Setting is also a minefield for me as any three-stone I have seen in store almost looks like a square diamond with the four prongs. Does anyone have any advice without compromising the security of the diamonds in the ring?

Thanks in advance!

Rule #1. The side stones MUST add up to more than the center stone weight.
Otherwise you get a solitaire with tiddly big shoulder stones.

Stuller does not sell to the end user, only to the jeweler/store BUT you can see tons and tons of settings on their website which would give the opportunity to 'see' (at last on your computer/phone) was the settings would like, that are available; at least something to 'compare'.

I realize this doesn't answer the questions about the two options of diamonds!
