Folks,

Having ordered a Whiteflash ACA in a Ritani platinum halo in order to propose next month, I'm now worried about how best to insure it. Given that I've had this made in the US and ACA style triple ideal branded diamonds are not typical in the UK is there anything specific I should do.

I guess it's either a case of getting it appraised at a local jewellers and then simply using the value onto my household cover as all risks or is there a better method that will protect the triple ideal / branded status of the ring?

TIA

Duncan

My ring was appraised by the jeweller who made the setting, the diamond was certified independantly, and it was added to our household policy with its documentation. Same for my eternity ring.

Did you receive the ring yet? Would love to see a thread in SMTB. :wavey: I want to see how the halo turned out!

Nope still being made I think. All very exciting but frustrating too as I want to wait till a holiday we have in Scotland in 3 weeks to propose. Waiting after the ring is here will be a nightmare so almost hope it's another 2 weeks before it arrives!

It's going to be a gorgeous ring!!!!

Does anyone know the ballpark on insurance for something about £20k?

Is it less than 100, more, or hundreds?

And do they cover you no matter where you are in the world, or is it in the UK only?

I will contact them myself too, but I don't have the ring and appraisal yet :) So just wondering in the mean time!

I did a quick quote on the th march site. They seem to cover in uk and Europe and also worldwide as long as it's less than 30 days total in the year.

For my 5k ish value they quoted about 70 quid I think, 20k seems nearer 270 a year.

I had my original ER insured with TH March. A couple of years later the diamond fell out of the setting and it was long gone before I realised it was missing. They were fabulous with the claim and settled it with my choice of jeweller (which might be an issue if you want to replace it with an ACA as they aren't available over here). They don't tend to do cash settlements, so you might struggle to get the money and buy again from abroad though. I would definitely speak to them. They were expensive, however, it was worth it in the long run.

Hmm yeah that could get pretty expensive over the years. Still I may use them for this year as the proposal will be abroad and i'm a little nervous about it!
