Advice on Mandarin Spessartite or Tourmaline

I have talked with the girlfriend about color of stone she prefers and she said orange or pink is fine. Im at the point where im going to buy so i can get it set before her b-day so I need to know what stone is the best quality and will look the best in the setting of these 3 stone''s

I dont care about the price anymore as this is starting to take longer then expected.

I think the orange will be too dark in real life (and will be limiting to what you can wear it with) so I''ve discounted that.

The first paler pink is very pretty but it might not stand out so much in a setting, so that''s my second choice.

The last, darker, Barry stone is my favourite. It''s well cut, has great clarity and colour!

I''d go with the third one. IMO it has a better color than the other pink one.

I like # 1 and # 3. I have a 5mm round spessartite from Dan and it is a firecracker. I think it would be pretty. The last pink tourmaline is a great color. IMO I think garnets have more sparkle than tourmaline.

I''d say #2, since #3 has been sold. Dan''s garnet is pretty too though!

I was going to go with BB pink but it was sold 30 min after I posted it here(someone else must have like it also..HAHA)I thought long and hard about the other pink but didnt want to chance it that it might not stand out so much in the setting

I have chosen to go with Dan''s stone He''s a very friendly man and we ended up working out a fair price! I wanted a good spessartite garnet that isn''t painfully expensive, Granted, you can get some stones for cheap from overseas, but they are usually very badly cut.. I wanted something her other girlfriends didnt have that sparkles!

As soon as i find a jeweler to mount the stone I will post pictures

Please post photos of it here before you decide to keep it. It may end up being too dark or too brown, and I know most ladies don''t like brownish stones.

I like the 1st, congrats, I think it will turn out BEAUTIFUL, Dan is easy to work with too. I came across this malaya garnet that changes from pink to orange, I thought is nice and you can have 2 colors in 1, but honestly I find it a little pricey for a garnet Do check it out garnet

It might be a sparkler from the picture but it seems rather dark and not what I’d consider a “mandarin” colour.
