Hi everyone,

I learned so much from Pricescope when purchasing a diamond for my fiancé's engagement ring and ended up making an informed purchase that I was very happy with. Now she's on the hunt for a ring for me (both women) and we need more advice. We've combed through threads here and the vendor lists, but still feel pretty overwhelmed.

At this point, we're looking to purchase an oval or round blue sapphire in the 0.6-0.9 carat range, give or take. It will be for a 3-stone ring with 0.2 carat heirloom diamonds as the side stones.

Many of the listed vendors don't seem to have options in that size range. We can spend up to $2000 for the stone which seems like enough to give us options, but I want to make sure we spend wisely. We also have lots of other things going on at the moment and wouldn't mind spending to make sure we're getting a good stone from a quality vendor.

Any suggestions for vendors or individual stones would be greatly appreciated! Or advice on what to prioritize in the search.

Thank you!

Thank you! Willing to spend up to $2000. The stone you linked is pretty but a little larger than I'm looking for. Also slightly lighter in color than my ideal. Have you bought from that seller?

Sorry! I misread your post as you didnt want to spend 2K; I was looking the wrong direction.

These are great, thank you! The first and last are getting closer- love the last one but just not sure about the lighter color when outside. The "indoor" color of that one is perfect.

Also leaning toward unheated vs heated, but could be willing to compromise.

Thank you for the suggestions! Keeping them in mind.

I have no knowledge of this company, however the cut on this stone would remove it from my list. It has a large window and huge girdle and that's with a superficial look.

At least in that photo, it looks rather gray to me.

Another thought - the size you're looking for isn't commonly is purchased, our usualy vendors might stock less of this size since the sales volume is less. You might try reaching out to a some vendors to see if they have any leads.

There have got to be wonderful smaller stones out there, but I can also see how larger stones are better at paying the bills, so to speak.

I am about as far from an expert as you can get, but I would venture to say that the website of the last two stones you posted is one that is charging an exorbitant premium for US mined stones that have very little inherent to them to justify that premium. I have been searching for a stone for my girlfriend's engagement ring and I have started to realize that to get what I want, I will luckily not need to spend as much as I had originally planned. You will quite likely be able to do the same--especially if you are not in a rush.

While most vendors may not have a large selection of stones in the size that you are looking for, the premium is generally reserved for larger stones so you should be able to get a great stone for a fair price. I agree that you should probably reach out to some vendors--especially the ones that do their own cutting as they quite likely have a good colored but poorly cut native cut stone that they could recut to what you are looking for or have some good rough that is too small to make the larger stones that they get most of their business from but would probably love to get their investment back and spend the time to cut it if they have a likely buyer.
