Advice on these two diamonds

I am planning on buying a diamond for an engagement ring. Jeweller showed me the two diamonds above and they both looked great in person.

I’ve researched into what to look out for and the 4C’s etc. He explained they’re almost identical, the first costing ~ £7300 (only because it was bought in 2021) vs the second which costs £8260 both including the platinum band.

However, looking closely at the table, depth, CA and PA appear to be more ideal in the more expensive diamond. Despite this he suggested I go for the cheaper diamond as it’s a much better deal and those differences will not be noticeable.

Another area that worries me is that the more expensive diamond has a cavity as an inclusion, would this be an issue on a VS2 diamond?

I was hoping for opinions/advice on what people would choose.

Thanks

The second one (the more expensive one), is a better cut. I would not recommend the first one, primarily because of the pavilion
angle. It's also cut deep at 62.8%.

The thing about cavities is that they can get filled with dirt/grit and make the stone look like it has a worse clarity than it does.
For that reason, we don't recommend diamonds with cavities. However, It is not the grade-making inclusion. Can you
ask the jeweler where it is and if he can show it to you (under a loupe or microscope).

You can run the stones through the HCA tool to see how they do. Its located here:

I wouldn't even consider the first one. It also has a smaller diameter than the other.

We can't tell anything about the cavity since the reports aren't showing the clarity plot. I agree with tyty333 that I'd ask the jeweler to show you the cavity under the microscope. If you can provide more information or pictures of that cavity, there are appraisers here who might be able to give you an opinion. I'd be hesitant on this one for that reason. But I would not buy the first one as the cut is not good.

Definitely avoid the cheaper one. Its further away from ideal cut than I would recommend, and also cut too deep. The more expensive one is more promising, but seems incredibly expensive for the size. Do you have any pics or videos? I've heard that prices in the UK are higher, and if you buy from the US you'd have to pay VAT, but it still seems $$ to me.

Appreciate the feedback, very helpful.

Unfortunately, I don’t have any pictures or videos of the diamond, I viewed it in person and it looked great to the eye. The jeweller suggested the cavity shouldn’t cause any issues, but I’ll ask to see it under a loop.

Prices are quite high in the UK, I should say that these prices include the plantinum band which is ~ £420.

What characteristics of the cavity would make this a deal breaker, or would you guys avoid anyway?

I asked the jeweller to try find a VS1 diamond with all the same characteristics as the second diamond, and he found one which is £9600, so quite a big price difference which I’m not sure is worth it.

I was also thinking if it would make more sense to try and find the same diamond but without a cavity inclusion, or maybe go for an E VS1, but the price difference doesn’t seem that big

Really nice!

What do you think of this one? £6,039.60 including VAT, bank wire price £5,949.01.

Yes!

Edit...BTW, jeweler's lights can make a piece of coal sparkle so if you don't know what you're looking for or
at you could think many non-well cut stones look "great". The numbers we use to recommend stones
help to reduce light leakage and provide a well-rounded stone (no pun intended).
