Hi,

I have finally taken a (big) step in designing my engagement ring. I have received the below CAD and I think after a few hopefully minor tweaks it will be perfect. I wanted to ask you if there is anything I should look out for? Is the setting too high/low? I want to make sure that the e-ring sits flush with my wedding band.

My middle stone will be a champagne coloured diamond with two traps that are white diamonds. David suggested to go with rose gold for the middle stone which Im sure will look fab and will emphasise its beautiful warmth.

I also wanted to check if further side stones or pave would work? I dont know whether mixing a cushion cut with trapezoids and then bullets or pave would look right? Is that too much?

Any advise or things to look out for will be greatly appreciated :) thank you in advance!

I like how the side profile of the below ring is more spaced out and doesnt meet in the middle. I want the ring to be quite modern.

and this ring here was my initial inspiration

Have you ever worn a ring with full pave down the shanks? If not, try a piece of cheap costume jewelry. The feelings of pave between your fingers isn’t for everyone. It’s not a good or bad thing, but I can tell you - its just a different feeling.

I like the design, with the plain shank and the eternity wedding ring. That said, ’high, low’ versus flush aren’t the same thing to me. When you say high, low - do you mean the height if the center stone?

As for flush, if you are going with an eternity style band next to a plain shank like in the CAD, I would recommend that you gave David insure that the donut on the head of the seting leaves a small gap between the bands. If you wear a diamond band next to a plain metal band and setting, the girdles of the diamonds on the eternity band will rub the plain metal over time and cause damage. Diamonds are harder than any metal.

And the rose gold option for the center stone is a great addition. There is also a gold color combo that I have heard called orange tulip, gold, which is a 50/50 mix of 14k yellow and rose. It’s a personal choice but it rose is too pink, that combo yields an amazing soft pinky, sunset color that I think looks amazing with champagne colored stones.

You will need to tell David if you like the center stone crown to be spaced out more at the bottom like your inspiration picture, because right now, the bottom in the CAD comes to a point, which you said you don’t like as much. Send him the picture with the area circled.

This is going to be beautiful, I like pairing a plain shank solitaire with a diamond band. I note your eternity is a full eternity - no spacebar for sizing. Think about that - when you wear two rings together, they tend to fit tighter than when you wear them solo. Many people leave a bar (btw 2-6 diamond width) so the ring could be sized later if needed. Many opt for 3/4 or 1/2 eternities to avoid the sizing issues.

I currently have a stand in ring that has a pave band and I to be honest I dont really even feel it but I think it will be a bit too much for this ring. I think the diamond band will add loads of sparkle anyway, thank you!

Sorry the reference to high was the actual stone and the setting sitting at 6.53, is this considered high? I assume it’s probably to accommodate the wedding band?

That’s such great advise, I didn’t think that it would wear the ering out but completely makes sense. Is it just a hygiene factor as such or will it make a difference to how the ring looks? I can’t even see the donut in this 3D, should I assume it’s there anyway but just not visible?

Oh wow the orange tulip sounds perfect! Hopefully he will be able to do it in that colour.

Thank you for all your advise!!

I had seen those on tings but never even occurred for me to ask him to do it on the band, and I do actually think I might prefer the 3/4 version!

Would you recommend I size up in both the ering and the wedding band so that they aren’t too tight when I stack the, up?

thank you!!

The rose gold photo you shared has a donut, it’s that little ridge below the center stone, dead center It you CAD doesn’t. Did you ask David for something like that - the rose gold inspiration?

As for wearing a setting out, it took me less than 4 years to eat about 1mm out of a 2 mm deep setting with my solitaire ring next to my 3 carat eternity band. So, when David reset my 2.7 carat pear this year, I made damn sure that the ring had a nice, fat donut!

And agree that for a full eternity, size will change. But I would go UP from your current ring size, babies, age, older knuckles. We generally see ring sizes go up, not down over time. In fact, I go up a half for any eternity band more than a 1 carat. You can have David put sizing beads inside the eternity band if you go up a half size. You can ask him about that. He knows what sizing beads are all about.

Thank you for everyones input and support!
I have received the second version of my ring and I think its much closer to what I want it to be.

I just wanted to ask if the double prongs would cover too much of the side profile and as its a modest size stone would it bee too much? Even though I do love the look of really dainty double claw prongs.

The stones dont appear to be set as high and I am concerned that a 2mm band will no longer sit flush next to it.

Is it me or is the band from half way up a little on the chunkier side?

Is there any other things I should consider or that could be watch outs?
