Hi everyone, I need help!! I''m new to the board but have been browsing for days on different topics. I''ve encountered several questions and dilenma''s which I hope anyone could give me a hand.
My dream diamond is a 1 carat or larger ( if possible), F color, VS2, ideal cut(AGS000) RB , pave setting or tiffany 6 prong that will need to be within the budget of approx $7500(diamond plus the ring setting). I''ve learned from bluenile about the existence of AGS, however, when I got down to LA jewelry mart this afternoon, not many of the vendors-even the diamond importers at Jewelers Mall on 625 Hill St. heard of AGS diamonds!!
And for those who''d heard of AGS, they told me that GIA is the best, the most recognize certificate out there and AGS is nothing!! They tried to persuade me to get a GIA Ex/Ex instead and what those vendors claimed it''s the same thing....
I believed they said that because basically none of them holds an AGS certified diamond, the only certs they got is either GIA or EGL. I''m very confused cuz I really want to get the best I can afford and I want it to worth the buck my fiance saved out of his hardwork. Can anyone tell me if for instance I can not find a jeweler that carries a AGS diamond, A GIA ideal RBG Ex/Ex will do?
Also, I''ve visited several stalls/vendors that sells the settings, however, the vendors are trying to sell me the same six prong platinum tiffany setting listed on bluenile at $350 for $600!! What is going on here!!
I''ve also asked for my dream setting-pave diamond that encircle my diamond as well as on the band. One vendor quoted for $2400 and another quoted for $1500....aiyawei!!!!
The price discrepencies freaked me out that I''m so afraid to even trust anyone there!! Can anyone pls advise what is the reasonable price for a platinum tiffany 6 prong setting so I can have a benchmark pleaaaaase???
We''re due to make the decision by this weekend as our engagement will be very very soon and I really want to get the purchase done before X''mas. Any information/referrals will be greatly appreciated!!
