Hey ladies!

It''s been a while! I''ve been really busy with school! Trying to get finished!! Anyway, I''ve been searching for an all-inclusive honeymoon resort at about 3K for the both of us. If it is less then thats better, I don''t know how much over 3K we could do. Anyone have any ideas?? I''m not crazy about Cozumel, Cancun, or Jamaica.... sounds terrible but i''ve been there too many times. (Geez I sound like a brat!) anyway, if anyone has any ideas could ya let me know?? Or if you have any other suggestions in that price range I''d LOVE to know!

Thanks a bunch in advance!!!

I don''t have a clue about resorts. But have you considered a cruise? They are cheap, all inclusive, and you could even choose an Alaskan one which would be totally different. It is what H and I are considering! Good luck!

You could go to Sandals. And they have a whole bunch of different resorts... Antigua, St. Lucia, Bahamas and of course Jamaica but you said you didn''t want to go there...

We''re also looking into all inclusive resorts so this thread will be good for me as well!

ilovesparkles, FI and I have been on a couple cruises and I''d like for everyone to please note that cruises are not *ALL* inclusive. They included food & activities but you DO have to pay for alcoholic drinks (whereas you wouldn''t at an all inclusive place) and any scuba diving/those kinds of activities on islands. I know Sandals INCLUDES those things in their packages. Oh and with cruises you also have to pay tips/gratuities and at Sandals, again, it''s included. So be careful when you read on cruise line sites that they are all inclusive b/c 9 times out of 10, they are not. They get you somewhere.

And if there is a cruise you know for a fact that you only pay one set price and everything else IS included with no fees, then please post it here cuz I''d LOVE to get on that!!!!

I would consider a cruise or somewhere in the Dominican Republic. Punta Cana is full of all inclusives and they''re pretty affordable. Cruises are super cheap these days too.

I wrote a really long post but PS ate it and I don''t have time to rewrite... In summary - Dreams Huatulco. Huatulco is an up and coming resort town on the Pacific coast of Mexico and very affordable both in town for shopping, dining, and activities and for the resorts/inns. It is usually under 1000 pp for an 8 day stay.

You may also want to consider the islands of Aruba, Turks & Caicos, and St. Lucia. All have very nice AI''s that are a little different feel than Jamaica or Cancun. I am not sure on pricing there though off hand. I just know Huatulco because I reeeallly want to go there!

Hey ladies!

Thanks for your reply!! I have been on quite a few cruises to jamaica and mexico, which is why i did not want to do either.

Ilovesparkles: We thought about a cruise and would consider one if the price is right BUT just like inhisarms said, the bills add up somewhere else... tips, excursions/taxis, drinks, etc. But for someone who has never been or only been on a few it is a BLAST!!! We were just hoping to try something new. We arent completely writing cruises off but its not a front runner right now.

inhisarms: I looked at Sandals, I really like it. I guess I want to scope out all the possibilities ya know? I probably should not be very picky because I''m sure we''re gonna have an amazing time wherever we go! Looks like we are Wedding day twins!!! How much do you have done?? I''m curious cause I feel like I''m way behind for some reason! Maybe i just worry too much though! I''d love to keep in touch and help each other out, especially with timeline kind of things!

Hudson: I looked at Punta Cana! I really like the resorts there. Do you know where I could find info on flight times from Houston?

Morgie: I havent looked at those 4 places! Thanks! I''ll have to look into them! Hopefully they have decent prices!!! Fingers crossed!

We are sort of in the same boat, in terms of wanting an all-inclusive honeymoon, but we''re 90% sure we will do a cruise. Even though cruises don''t include drinks/excursions, it still may be priced right if, for example, the cruise costs $2,000 and then you have $1,000 for those extra items (this isn''t including airfare.)

FWIW, we are looking into the 7-day Western Caribbean thru Royal Caribbean...two days of sailing + Haiti, Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. With our desire for relaxation, adventure, good food, islands, and good price...its perfect for us. It''s looking to be about $1,200 pp (before tax, not inc. airfare.)

We stayed at Jolly Beach Resort Antigua three years ago. It wasn''t luxe, but it was clean, the people there were really friendly and the food was decent. The water is clean and warm, and the beach is lovely. The area has some very good snorkeling. We stayed at Sandals Antigua this January, and though everything had that glossy hotel sheen to it, I preferred the more "local" scene at Jolly Beach. Also, the "free" snorkeling was no where near as colorful or interesting as the excursions we paid for at Jolly Beach. There are also free rentals of boats, windsurfing, peddle boats, etc...

I would go to Bookingbuddy.com and plug in the times you want to travel and it''ll show you available flights from all carriers.

FI and I are going here:
Link

Very reasonably priced!!! We''re getting flight and hotel for 6 nights for under 2K!!!!
We used orbitz.com to look.

Add me to the list advocating the Dominican Republic for great All-Inclusives! We are getting married at the Iberostar and it was $2200 per couple for 5 days, however, there are a few resorts that are more luxurious like the Riu Palace and Dreams as a previous poster mentioned. There is also the Paradisus Resorts and the Barcelo Resorts that all usually get very good reviews.

The other thing I was going to point out is that if you stay on the North coast of the DR (in the Puerto Plata area) there are some amazing resorts as well AND there is a volcano close by that you can climb.

Other options to throw out there are Cuba (I don''t know where you are from, but if you are from anywhere outside the US or if you have a non-US passport, Cuba is a great value!), I know you said no Mexico, but the Pacific side is really great, someone already mentioned Huatulco, but there is also Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta and Acapulco, and finally there are the other islands. In Turks and Caicos there is a Beaches, which allows families, but they have a separate "Villa" for couples and there is at least one adults only pool with a bar. Curacao has the same thing, a Beaches...

I think really only Mexico and the Caribbean offer AI vacations.

I would try Orbitz or Expedia and filter by All-Inclusive packages. Good Luck!

Hi Happy,

Here are my two cents:

1. Some other had recommended Turks. I highly recommend this as well. I went a few years ago with a couple gf''s after my graduation from college. It is SOOOO pretty. I stayed at the Beaches and although they do allow kids, they keep them very well segregated and you don''t really notice they are there. The only negative is that is it a bit more pricey, but they do include all food and alcohol and scuba diving (even for non-certified people) and that was awesome.

2. I know you said no Mexico, and I can totally understand because I was really against it for all the spring break/cheezy Cancun cliches. But, after just coming back from my FABULOUS and unbelievably well prices trip to Riveria Maya, I am singing Mexico''s praise. Check out http://www.excellence-resorts.com/all-inclusive-resorts/riviera-cancun-mexico/cancun-overview.htm
The resort was all-inclusive, and if you stay at the "club-level" we are talking top shelf type liquors too. The food and service were suprisingly great, esp considering it was an all-inclusive. The resort was really chill and about 50% of people there were honeymooners, so there isn''t that "Cancun" atmosphere. A nice bonus to this resort is that unlike a Sandals or Beaches, the cost includes room service 24 hours a day and pool and beach side service. So, getting breakfast in bed on your honeymoon or laying by the ocean and having people bring you drinks is that much more enjoyable! Either way, you can get a great one-week honeymoon for less than $2,000, which IMO, is a great deal. If you want more details, just ask.

3. I have heard the cruises are fun, but I don''t know if I would do it for a honeymoon. And yes, the alcohol thing can get pricey.

Hi Happy! I love vacationing. I''ve been on a lot of cruises (taking one for my wedding in Bermuda) and stayed at a few all inclusives. The best all inclusive I stayed at was for a wedding in Playa de Carmen (about an hour outside Cancun). I know you said you have been to Cancun before- but this place is amazing! It is so beautiful and the food was delicious. Here is the website if you want to check it out
www.royalhideaway.com/ In my opinion it is a step above most all inclusives. Have fun planning your honeymoon!

Thanks for the tips, I did know that in the back of my head, but reminders are good! The alcohol thing, FI and I cannot drink currently, although that may change (medications). But I am sure for others that is a big concern. This is also a fabulous thread you have started Happy, definitely bookmarked for me!

I would try applevacations.com You just put in your departure city and destination city, and they put the whole deal together for you!

We are on the same budget as you, and would like an all-inclusive, including flights. For less than 3k, there are SEVERAL options to Punta Cana in the DR, which is where we''re likely headed.

Good luck!

Do you really want a resort or all inclusive vacation? You could easily go lots of places for a week on $3K. But, it does depend on the type of vacation you want. (Since you don''t want a lot of the traditional vacation spots, I just thought I would ask).

I''m glad I could start a thread that can help more than just me!! YAY!

Thank you for all the help! I guess I just figured either Orbitz.com and Expedia.com was the only internet way you could book a vacation! GLAD I WAS WRONG!! I am definitely looking into all of your suggestions!! Thank you so much!

Katamari: I did not know they were two separate things! I just want to have a nice relaxing place, preferably no kids allowed (since we will be honeymooning in prime summer vacay times- Late June-early July, we definitely want all inclusive so there wont be many other charges except the vacation. I''m open to suggestions though! But I was thinking about flight times earlier today! Completely forgot about that! I''m not crazy about a really long flight! (we''ll be flying out from Houston,TX) If I find a place that is in the traditional honeymoon/vacation spots that''s nice, easy going, relaxing, but also has options, i''d be THRILLED!!! I''m just scoping out my options way before hand just so I am aware of most things ya know?

Thanks again everyone!!

Have you tried a travel agent? I don''t know why they get so overlooked sometime, but if you give them a budget, what kind of place you are looking for, and what kind of place you DON''T want to go, they could probably come up with a few options for you to choose from that will definitely be within your budget. They might be able to even get you a better deal, but if not, you could at least look up the places they suggest on your own to see if you can find a better price!

I would also recommend trying a travel agent! We booked through a travel agent and they were able to price match the price we were getting on Orbitz, but we got the personal service and attention of a travel agent too, it was the best of both worlds!

Ok, so I haven’t actually been there yet . . . but if you read the reviews on tripadvisor they score off the charts! Paradise Bay Eco Resort. It’s a secluded island in the Great Barrier reef my boyfriend and I are going there in a few months. You only have 16 other guests at any given time on the island. If you are looking for relaxing and beauty this is the place. It’s not cheap but it looks awesome just read some of the tripadvisor reviews and you might find yourself considering it. Just remember that the States summer is their winter and fall is spring, etc. I think its pretty much impossible to get such good ratings!
