Hello all.

I've been a long time lurker and finally found it to be the right time to actually make an account and post something. I've spent countless hours on here obsessing over everyone's rings and what I want my future ring to look like. I guess you can say I'm a lady in waiting at this point. My boyfriend and I have been together for YEARS now and both know that we will get engaged as soon as were are able to afford a ring. We know its not about a ring, rather what it represents, but we still would like something nice. Plus, we're not in any rush. Or at least I'm not. He would have liked to be married with kids yesterday. ha. But he knows now is not the right time. I still like to oooo and ahhh over everything I see on here though. When the time is right, it will happen (aka by this time next year!). I will absolutely be picking everything out myself and he can surprise me with the proposal.

Anyways, thats where I'm at now. Just saying hello.

I'm just like you, I ended up picking everything out. I intended him to be doing majority of the work, but I ended up feeling like such a controlling perfectionist that I took over! Like you said, he's only responsible for the proposal

I'll stick you on our list as soon as I can get to a computer! I know the feeling about wanting something nice but it not being necessary. I don't even have my ring, but did a lot of the searching for my BF. Now hrs soley responsible for the proposal and keeps accidentally slipping up with details. I guess that's how it is when your so comfortable and open with one another.

What kind of things make you think you're not ready vs. ready?

We've been together 8 years! As far as my favorite styles...it changes every so often! I can't seem to make up my mind, which drives me crazy because I don't want to get it wrong or feel like I should have gone with something else. At first I really liked halos, now I think I'm set on a solitaire. I really liked AVC's, then square cushion hearts and arrows, then emerald/asscher's, then rounds...and now I think I have decided on GOG's princess of hearts! Clearly I am indecisive. They are all so perfect. I want them all! Lately I've been in love with the modified 4-split prong Petite Torchiere thats on Mark Morrell's website. But I also like to drool over Leon Mege's work. I'm a bit of a perfectionist as well so I've spent hours looking at different styles...and then of course at what style wedding band I might want too, what will go together, and whether or not I will need/want a spacer....there is so much to consider. I might be going crazy! Crazy in the best way possible!

Thanks! it feels kind of weird to be officially waiting! kind of unreal.

We're not currently ready just because of the finical aspect of it. We want to get ourselves situated first. And I'd like to finish grad school or at least be close to being done before we get engaged (9 months away!), that way I will actually have time to plan a wedding. But we hope to be able to start the process of finding a stone and getting it set as soon as possible. Plus, that way he can have some time to hold onto it before he pops the question so it can be more of a surprise. That last part won't be so much fun for me It should be interesting though because he is really bad at surprises. Whenever he gets me something he wants to give it to me right away and can't hold it in!

Wows, 8 years! Atta girl!! Being super indecisive and changing your mind a million times is PERFECT for right now. Keep changing your mind until you know for sure what you want! You'll know it when you keep reverting back to one particular style or another. We've ALL gone nuts and changed styles 09182098121908210982 times! Heh, it's the fun of it! If you really end up having your heart set on the POH's, for sure, GOG actually still has a few that are still on their "sale" price that they lowered the price to during a sale last year! There's one in particular that I've kept my eyes on.. Yummy! Good choices!


Congratulations on almost being done with graduate school! I agree that it's much more ideal to plan a wedding when you aren't worried about exams, projects, papers or due dates!

I'm studying Education. I can't wait to be finished! Grad school is far from fun and really has taken quite a toll on me. I'm counting down the months at this point!

And yes, I change my mind far too often. I was at the mall the other day and my bf and I stopped in a store just to try on rings (which I love doing but hate playing the part as if I'm actually considering ever purchasing anything from them, when really I just want to play dress up!) and I tried on an Asscher for the first time. I just about fell in love. It was a 2 ct stone and looked so yummy on my finger. Now I feel torn between an Asscher and a Princess of Hearts!

Nice! Grad school is definitely tiring, but think how rewarding it will feel to be done! Asschers are gorgeous! The only complaint I've heard about them is that they have to be crazy clean or the sparkles dull quickly. A POH would shine more like a MRB with the asscher shape. Just depends on what kind of flashes you prefer and how good you are at keeping your bling clean!

yes, seconded about the asschers, from what I have read on here many of the girls have also echoed that sentiment...that they need to be kept clean! POH sounds like it would be a great way to get both the sparkle and shape you like! it just comes with a more expensive bill since it's a branded cut

That's true about POH being branded...isn't BGD's Quadex pretty much the same thing? I know it's a brand too, but are they as much as regular POHs?

I think it is, but no idea on the pricing, sorry...I know they usually don't have many in stock either so it's hard to compare.
