Almost certainly stupid website question.

I have been building one of these online websites for our wedding - with wedding.window.com

I''m wondering how guests access the site...

I don''t have most of their email addresses so I can''t email them a link, and I want to put the address on our STD''s. However, I was thinking that there must be hundreds of ''www.kateandmatthew.weddingwindow.com'' or whatever the names are at any one time, so surely just giving them that as the url won''t be enough.

Hmmm, has anyone solved this dilemma - I''ve read all the FAQ''s etc and can''t find anything obvious that explains how it works!

I don''t know how wedding.window.com works, but with my site on the knot, our first and last names are part of the URL so each wedding website has an individual URL. What do you type in to get to yours?

I was going to ask the same question as Sabine, what do you type in to get to it yourself? I mean if you''re not logging in to work on it. I''m surprised they wouldn''t tell you what url to give people anywhere! Look around the website a little more perhaps, or do you have some kind of confirmation e-mail or anything that shows how to access it?

It seems it is just the firstname and firstname.weddingwindow.com - I just tried it out on FI''s laptop and it came up no problem.

Seems strange that you don''t need some kind of more identifying word. I still don''t get how it would work if you had 5 lots of John and Jane trying to register a site over the same timescale...

I''ve always wondered that too, but perhaps that just only allow one at a time and if you come after that you have to pick a more identifying thing when you sign up? Do you have anyone that you would be comfortable with asking them to try it and see that they get to your page and not some random people with the same names?

Hi Pandora, you just to share the exact URL that you go to, to view the site.

When you signed up on weddingwindow.com, step 3 of the signup process is website name: it asks you to fill in XXXX.weddingwindow.com

So if you fill in kateandmatthew, no one else signing up will be able to use that. So nope, there can not be hundreds of the same kateandmatthew.weddingwindow.com -- other Kate and Matthews would see that kateandmatthew.weddingwindow.com is already taken, and they would have to type in something else. Each of those addresses are called subdomains (they are subdomains of the domain weddingwindow.com and EACH subdomain must be unique.) So no worries, hand out your URL and feel at ease
