Hi all! It’s been a loooooong time, but I’m back with a gorgeous upgraded engagement ring But I’m trying to figure out if I’m being too picky about the prongs!
The vendor has said there is no durability issues, however they are willing to make adjustments if it makes me feel better. I don’t want to part with my beautiful new ring, nor do I want to be *that* customer who is nitpicking things. So I was hoping to get some advice from you all.
I first noticed that a prong is slightly crooked. When I took out my loupe to see if I was just seeing things, I found another two prongs with excess metal. I can’t see the excess metal with my eyes, so I agree that’s not a big issue nor will it affect durability. I can see the crooked prong with my eyes, but again I agree not a durability issue and so I don’t think I’d bother sending in my ring to correct either of those issues.
However, then I noticed the crooked prong isn’t fully clamped down on the diamond. Another prong also appears wonky (yeah I know, a real technical term haha). Again I’m told these prongs being lifted do not affect durability, but this is where I’m struggling. Is it really not an issue to have prongs not fully touching the top of the diamond? Hopefully you can see what I’m talking about in this photo:
So that’s my long rambling story. Am I being too picky?
