Just wanted to tell you the acorns are starting to fall. I accumulated 20 in a short walk of 2 minutes today! They are green now. The nut part is a shiny avocado green. But the shell pocket part is a brown. Funny, I have never paid much attention to acorns...I have been studing them all season...for you!
I was worried the massive amount of rain, followed by intense high temperature would effect them somehow. Unless a sign of falling while still green is bad, they seem to be ok. And a month ago it sounded like a hail storm as the squirrels where tossing them out of the branches onto our shop building. Actually sounded more like mortar. Anyway...they were deformed, or not ready...those little squirrel bandits were robbing the acorn of their rights...of life and liberty!
Let me know if you still need them. (we can figure something out) And about the color...I can call an aborist and ask if green turns to brown. Or if you have to wait until brown falls.
