After several requests (thanks, all!), here is Amelia both before I reset her and after.

When I first saw her, I was drawn to the unique, NSEW diamond-shaped bands in which she was set. Nothing super fancy, just interesting! I had never seen anything like it! After stalking the set for about 2 years, and after re-connecting with the man who would become my husband, I pulled the trigger.

The setting is custom, new, platinum (unmarked), and set with MRB, full-cut diamonds (appx .30 TCW between both bands). When I first got the set, Amelia was a 1.28 carat stone stuffed into a 4-prong 14kwg head designed for a stone of no more than 1 carat in weight (eeek!). She also has some chipping around her knife-edge girdle (contributing to a lower clarity rating based predominantly on historic damage -- internally, VS at worst), so I was a bit worried about further contributing to the damage, based on the head she was in.

After toying with the idea of re-cutting to resolve some of the damage/symmetry issues, I decided instead to change out the head to a 6-prong platinum head (Stuller item 72361 -- ROUND 6-PRONG LOW PEG SETTING) to protect the existing nibbles and give a better balanced look to the set.

When I got her back from the jeweler (Five Star Jewelry Brokers & Gemologists here in Austin, TX), I could hardly believe it was the same stone!!! Where Amelia had been softly radiant before (O/P color, faint fluorescence), suddenly she was sparkly and fiery all over the place! What a difference just a re-set can make!

Without further ado....BEFORE:

And, yes, the diamond shapes go all the way around (this is the wee head she was in before):

Wow that's crazy! It's difficult to believe it's the same stone! Perhaps with the issues of that overstretched four prong it was difficult to keep it so clean?

I love the setting, I would be interested to see more from the side honestly! How's the seam with the change out of heads?

Also how comfortable is that setting with all the pointy bits?

Gorgeous!

Gorgeous set and what a transformation!

I recognize this diamond and setting! It’s so beautiful! Is it me or does the diamond look a lot bigger as well?! So perfect!

It is beautiful! Great call on the reset!

Holy moly  talk about showcasing her beauty now! What an improvement :appl: love her profile too. So chunky and gorgeous

Simply wow! It looks like a completely different stone. Congratulations!

Beautiful stone! Fun and unique setting...love it!

Wow what a difference. Gorgeous.

Amazing transformation!!!

It turned out absolutely gorgeous.

Wow, what a difference! ***SPARKLE SPARKLE***

That's sort of what I thought, too -- that crud was getting down in the bottom of the head and I just couldn't get it out. Or that film was stuck between the prongs and the stone (again, impossible to get out). It's so hard to say other than that Amelia is MUCH brighter and livelier now! =)2=)2

Because the bands are thick, I don't feel the pointy bits at all. The thickest portion of my fingers are right at the base where they attach to my hand, so the points act a little like "grippies" and keep the rings from rolling or spinning.

Here are some more side shots where you can see the thickness of the bands and detail of where the head attaches (please pardon the lint!). The seam there is....err....seamless! The band was designed for a peg head, that's what was in there before, so that's what I got from Stuller -- and it was perfect. :)

I agree! Amelia looks larger in this setting! :)

Wow, great job!

Can't believe what a difference it made. Also, love the unique setting and how the wedding band and e-band fits together.

Still reeling from the video difference.

Wow it just gets more and more beautiful. I love the millgrain too! And that head looks perfect with it! Honestly it's great, and the diamond must be so pleased she can breathe again! I agree with @sledge... To the extent that if you said you got her recut or a new diamond I would totally have believed you!

Congratulations again.

I saw it on diamond bistro a while ago (last year) and was considering it. It’s beautiful!

Would you believe I stalked the set on Etsy and Diamond Bistro for probably 2 years? :mrgreen2::lol-2: When I first saw the set, I coveted it intensely -- but had no use for it. Then the right man popped back up in my life and, lo and behold, the right wedding set was suddenly available, too.:dance::love:

Ooooo I love how it fits together like puzzle pieces! ETA: Lol I just thought about how pretty it is. It’s a great reset.
