Some of you may remember the amethyst stones I purchased over the holidays from Gary Braun at www.finewatergems.com. I have been working two projects with Julia Kay Taylor of etsy. The first was to set these stones in silver baskets for use as earring charms. I have several hoops that I use for this purpose, including a pair of white gold hoops with channel-set diamonds, and some silver hoops from Brighton.

I'll post several photos, first a couple of the stones before setting, and several of the "after" shots. I need to get one out of doors to better show the stones in the setting, but I wish you could have seen the stones totally glowing when I opened the box from Julia!

She placed them on an earwire to send them to me, but I had to remove that for wearing them as charms, though I have them saved in case I decide to go back to the ear wire.

I hope you like them as much as I do!

Laura

Super close up with the macro shows a couple of tiny bubbles not visible to the eye.

ALMOST too pretty to open.

Few more photos of the earring charms. I hope to get some better lighting in the next couple of days.

Thanks chictomato...I think they could easily be worn facing either, they look so nice!

U r welcome ;)) o yes! That's kinda cool too :lickout:

So cool for such a uniquely cut pair of amethysts. Do you find that it is easier, more difficult or about the same visibility of the ying yang pattern after it is bezeled?

I love 'em! And you're right, the back is as pretty as the front.

The Yin/Yang pattern is quite visible even after bezeling. The stones are fairly large for earrings though. On a smaller stone, that may not be the case. I took my photos indoors, in the evening with a nearby lamp, so the lighting wasn't much on the stones, which is something I hope to correct by the weekend.

I sure enjoy them.

Love the yin/yang cut for those ammies! Just too cool for school and then set in your earrings, so beautiful, the baskets look great. Terrific results in every way!

Ear shots? :wavey:

They're such interesting stones! And JKT did a lovely job ::)

Nice versatile designs adn very usable earrings. The back of the gold ones are pretty too. You are right, you can wear those facing front.

Lovely stone and setting! I love the back design, so delicate! It may be odd, but I like the look with the earwire more than the hoops.

What an unusual piece/pair! Congratulations, they are beautiful!

Great looking stones and the setting. :appl:

Beautiful work on those earring charms.

Beautiful stones and beautiful settings.

She did a beautiful job. :appl: :appl: I love the setting!

Thanks so much for all your kind comments. I hope Julia and Gary lurk by because they deserve the credit for such fine work! I'm the happy beneficiary. I have some new pics in better light to post tomorrow (too tired tonight, sorry!)

Those are so cool! The cut is so unique (well, to me) and I love that you can wear them with a variety of earings.

Stunning! I love them.

Glad you like them! I think I need a matching pendand... :naughty:

Couple more pics and one ear shot. You know, I think these may look even better on my more casual silver earrings...will give that a try this week.

I think the lighting is far better in these.

Thank you for the ear pics and I must say they actually look better, if that is possible, on! The mark of really good jewelry, they come to life when you wear them.

What a great project that turned out to be. :praise:
