You all know that I broke up with C. Right after I broke it off, a guy friend of mine and I got together. I saw no reason to waste time since I knew for the last few months of the relationship with C. that I wasn''t in love and things were heading towards a breakup. It was actually late March when I had posted in a private forum about things with him, so by the time I actually broke up with him, I was completely sure and over it.
I was introduced to Dave through mutual friends back in October of 2006. I found him to be an interesting person...a really great guy that was always there when his friends needed him. I was with someone else, so he was respectful and kept his feelings quiet. I had no idea he was even attracted to me. I found excuses to get together with Kev and Laurie when Dave was staying over, and always asked how he was doing when he wasn''t around. I never imagined that he would be interested in me, so it wasn''t even a thought in my mind. I simply enjoyed his company. He was always willing to come up to the house when I lived on the horse farm to help out on the property. When he would walk through the door, the kids would stop what they were doing and attack for hugs. Even Ruby, who was only 7 months old when we first met, would go hold out her arms to him and she didn''t go to ANYONE at that time. He''s definitely a kid person.
After I broke up with C., Dave had dinner together with my kids (just casual, friends hanging out, nothing out of the ordinary), and after the kids went to bed he said he was in the mood for ice cream and a soda, so he ran to the store and came back. After he left I realized he had forgotten his jacket and sunglasses, but I made sure I waited til he was half-way home (an hour away from where I live) before I called him. He said he''d give me a call when he got in. So while we were talking later that night, he asked me if I put my cellphone on the charger...and that he left a little surprise for me by my phone. That''s when I saw the roses. Half dozen red, half dozen white. The mix of colors through me off, and since I know he''s really a nice guy that would by a female friend flowers just to brighten a bad day, it STILL didn''t dawn on me that he was interested. He actually had to tell me his intentions as it was too much to hope for that a man like him would have their eye on me (divorced, broke up with fiance, four kids... not exactly a good catch on paper).
He''s funny, smart, romantic, a hard worker, has a big heart, brave (EMT & firefighter), great with the kids, and he pampers me every chance he gets! The first time he kissed me I knew I had found my soulmate. The kids and I have not been this happy ever. They now know what it is like to have an alpha male around the house, and I am glowing.
