Hi All,

I am trying to create a 5 stone ring, 0.30 carats each, D colour but I am really struggling. Firstly, I have found that my preferred vendor has had very little in the way of D stock in these sizes over the last 6+ months. Ie at no point have they had 5 stones in stock within what appears to me to be reasonably similar dimensions. That is making it really difficult for me to choose 5 similar stones. Second, I am nervous in selecting multiple stones with different table angles and dimensions - at what point do such variations become noticeable? Help!!!!

I don’t want to mix and match different colour grades.

I see multiple different requirements:
1) Preferred vendor
2) same color (D) and minimal size variation
3) range of dimensions

I think at least one of your choices is going to have to give. Would you consider getting a tapered 5 stone? It would be easier to match pairs.

Alternatively, you may need to get it custom cut - I believe Whiteflash and/or BGD offer this service.

I would focus on keeping table size, overall size and color the same. Keeping angles within a couple of degrees should be fine.

You could also purchase three (or whatever is available now) of the diamonds, and have them held until your vendor can find the others. Or simply buy some from one vendor, and have them shipped to your preferred vendor. Make sure all stones are graded by the same lab and everything will be fine.

I think you should go with 2 color options D/E. I don't think most people could see the difference. If you are working with Super Ideals they are all going to be within a strict range of numbers. I don't know if you should worry too much about that either. Maybe just try not
to be at opposite ends of the table range.

Perhaps you should pick a different super ideal vendor?

Here are 5 super ideal Ds in your specs

Here are 8 super ideals in E color

I think matching diameter is the most important thing, so I'd look at .30-.32 and get close diameters. The difference between table size in a superideal at that size is not going to matter. Color matching is important, and I agree that you can mix D and E probably better than any other two colors in the colorless to near colorless range. If you want all Ds, then you need to ask your vendor if they will order more stones for you or change vendors if they won't.
