OK, so I''ve really gone back and forth about whether to post this as I don''t want to jinx anything, but I finally figured, it couldn''t hurt, right?
So, as those of you on the thesis-tacklers thread will know I''ve been interviewing for jobs this Fall as I begin the process of wrapping up my PhD studies. Unfortunately, the field I want to get into is highly competitive and has been made astronomically more so by the recent economic troubles - significantly reduced hiring targets + less turnover = bad situation for those of us wanting to join the field.
However, my dream job is now dangling in front of me, and this is where you come in. I interviewed for it a few weeks ago, and got a call several days later to say that I had done very well in my interview, they were very impressed and excited about me, etc...BUT since this year was so tight they didn''t know if they could make me an offer and wouldn''t know until they finished interviewing all of the candidates.
This could be as soon as next week, so now, I really really need any dust, thoughts, prayers, whatever you have. I have worked so hard for this opportunity - I''ve given up all of my weekends since the end of the summer in preparation, spent countless hours on the phone and in person preparing, and now it all hangs in the balance. Not that there won''t be other opportunities in my life, and I''m trying hard to keep sight of that, but this one would truly be a dream come true for me.
So please, if you can spare a good thought, send one my way that this comes through
