Anniversary Gift -- Emerald Cut Right Hand Ring OR Round Brilliant Upgrade???

10 Year Anniversary - Emerald cut right hand ring OR upgrade to Round Brilliant Engagement Diamond?

Our ten year anniversary is approaching and hubby is gifting me either a 3.06ct K VS1 Emerald cut set with tapered baguettes OR he said I could upgrade my current 3.50ct I SI2 RB. If we upgrade the RB, it would be hopefully to a 4.5 or 5ct.

I don't know which way to go! Here are pictures of both. Which direction would you go, and why? Please note: the Emerald cut is NOT set in the setting, it is just placed in there.

My vote would be for the emerald cut for sure. While I would never say no to an icy white super ideal, when diamonds climb over 4cts I tend to prefer fancy shapes!

This!!! I think a mrb can be tooo big but an emerald is always elegant—regardless of size! I would be tempted to trade them both in for the best and biggest emerald!! One ring to rule them all!

I would go the emerald as well - then you’ll have two sizeable rings of completely different flavours that you can wear alternatingly as erings or both at the same time.

I would definitely go with the emerald. You then have 2 rings, both on the larger side (larger that most) but both very wearable. A 4.5 to 5 ct is very big and might not be suitable for everyday wear. At least that is what I think.

I would not upgrade in size in the MRB it simply does not look refined in a EC is will appear much more tasteful IMO. Congratulations!!!

I would go for an emerald. I personally wouldn't wear anything larger than 10 mm in a round and I think it’s nice to have a choice of rings depending on your mood.

I love emerald cuts but I vote for the upgrade! In emerald cuts, I just feel that the color really comes through-unless you aren’t color sensitive...

I always felt my ER was special and sacred. In other words no upgrades or resets. That being said, I never refused the chance to celebrate a milestone with another piece of bling.

Are you good with where you are with your MRB? If so, emerald cut. if you're still hankering after a larger round even after you get the EC, I would go up on the round first.
