OK, so today is the anniversary of FI and my first date. We are going to dinner at the restaurant where we went after we got engaged. Well, FI called to make a reservation and I could hear the man ask "Is this for a special occasion?" because they usually bring you some glasses of champagne on the house for celebrations there. So FI says:

"No."

When he hung up I said ''So, did I hear him ask if this was a special occasion?''

FI: ''Yeah''

me: ''And you said ''No;?''

FI: ''Yeah''.

me: ''Soooo, our anniversary isn''t a special occasion?''

FI: ''Oh. Oops. Uhm, yeah.''

Oh well! I thought it was special!

Teeheee, but seriously, he surprised me with a beautiful bottle of Bulgari perfume (to match my ring!) and couldn''t be sweeter. So I''m certainly not complaining. I just thought it was funny!

HA!!! That is funny! People (at least people like ME) tend to go on "autopilot" when doing "chores" like making reservations. I TOTALLY think that was the case ... I mean what % of the time would the correct answer to the question "is this a special occasion?" be "YES!".

IG, I know how you and 99.9% of ladies would have said "yes" in a heartbeat, but guys (mine included) just don''t "get it".

You''re actually fortunate that he made the reservation at all, my guy would have been "getting around to it" long after the occasion was over and forgotten. Knowing that about him, I make the reservations. period. That way, I''m not disappointed.

Ditto! My husband probably only remembers special dates because my daughter likes to note everything on the calendar in the kitchen. Even then, half the time he doesn''t know what day it is because he''s away so much. LOL!

OK, OK, I''m counting my blessings!

Especially since he just came home from errands with a big bunch of calla lillies for me! Awww.

He also suggested we start a tradition like the one his parents have, where every year on the anniversary of their meeting (not their wedding anniversary), FFIL buys FMIL a new charm for her charm bracelet. They even have a name for the day which is basically ''Charm Bracelet Day'' in their language. So he''s trying to think of a tradition we can start like that. But we met almost 2 years before we started dating, so I think we''ll stick with the firstdateaversary for ours.

Hmmm, I hope he comes up with something good! Like ''1/2 carat diamond day'' or something. I could do with a collection of those. I could make a necklace.

Haha. As if.

Sounds fair and reasonable to me!

FI told me a while back that he wants to celebrate the anniversary of the day we met (which is also when we started dating) rather than our wedding anniversary as he feels that it''s more important to him. They are only 19 days apart, so I''m fine with that, my birthday is also exactly between the two - so it''s a lot of celebrations at the same time of year!

The only thing I can''t decide is whether to have our wedding date or our anniversary date engraved inside our wedding bands.

Which would you go with - and do you think it''s totally weird.

PANDORA: My instinct would be to put your wedding date, since that''s the date on which the ring will be given, and begin to be worn. But ultimately, it doesn''t really matter! It should be whatever suits you two!
