Hi again! Found another stone, just under the 5ct mark and wanted to get thoughts from this group before I order. There's a return policy but obviously want to avoid the back and forth again since that whole process stresses me out. :)

Ranks 1.4 on HCA with 56% table, 35 degree crown, 48 degree pavilion, 61.8% depth

Attaching hearts and arrows images, 10x magnification images and screenshot of ASET, along with a couple photos.

Please let me know what you think so far! Thank you!!

Non-trivial painting on this one. Other than that it looks fine - and people have varying opinions on whether that’s bad or good...

Since it’s a large stone all the facets will be commensurately larger, so those “skinnier” arrows won’t be slivers IRL. Should be a bright and glitzy stone.

Where’s the report from?
What’s star according to the report?
What year is the report from?
Any comments in the notes section or under the proportions diagram?

Great, thank you for weighing in! Will you please remind me what painting means again?

Thank you!! How can you tell that painting has occurred, and can you tell if it was to the crown only? I think you mentioned brillianteering in my last thread so now I do recall how these tie together.

Cert is GCAL from 2020, 50% star, 80% lower half. Nothing of note listed under notes or proportions!

@diamondseeker2006 - yes I have a video but need to reset my youtube password so I can upload! Thanks for your feedback as well.

If you can share the video we might be able to tell for sure, depending on how clear it is :))

Oh - LOL. The video doesn't show the side of the stone.
How far away from the stone was the person's camera? Can you ask? The fact that the arrowheads are still paddling makes me think they might have been pretty close up, still...
Can you post the GCAL report?

If this vendor is in the US, or serves a primarily US-based market, there's a reason they didn't send the stone to GIA or AGSL. And GCAL would be an odd choice for a vendor who isn't US-based! Regardless though, since you're in the US, and this is a very high value purchase, you'll probably want to do that. Personally - I just don't think a painted 80+ LGF is likely to be a great fit for someone who loves older cuts, as I know you do! But that'd be something for you to decide for yourself.

Oh oops, my bad. That’s the only video I have but will ask about the distance. Vendor is in the US. I’m not sure why it’s GCAL, but I actually made a fuss about only wanting an AGS 0 stone and they offered to send it to AGS to be re-certed for me. I just don’t want them to go through the trouble until I’ve laid eyes on it in person and know it’s a likely candidate! And I’ve recently come to realize that if you’re a diamond, you’re my type...;)2

That's great!! Good for them. That certainly makes me feel better!

I think if you can return it, it's worth seeing in-person. Best case - you love it! Worst case, you learn something about your tastes and refine your search further.

@twosanguinehearts did you decide against the other 5 carat MRB? My heart is still hurting over the OEC that you returned lol.
