Another "because I''m bored" topic.....thoughts on wedding cakes or non-cake ideas?

Seeing the cake thread in BWW made me think of this:

My SO does not like sweets. No really even the sight of a sugary cake makes him want to...ummm ralph....He will tolerate oatmeal cookies, and two very specific ethnics cookies (one Swedish which his mom makes and one Italian that I make) and seriously that''s it no cake no pie nothing. I love sweets but don''t want to make him feel ill at our wedding so what would be a fun alternative?

PS Keep in mind we''re planning a DW so making cookies will be out b/c we won''t have the facilities and I doubt we can have these specific cookies made by the resort.

You ladies are so creative I can''t wait to hear your ideas but don''t be upset if I don''t check back till the morning

SO''s not into cake. BUT he''s a peanut butter freak so if I can somehow work that into the equation, then I think it will work out. I mean, he doesn''t care either way - he''d be just as happy doing without - but I want our cake to be something HE wants to eat.

I managed to sell him on the idea of cupcakes in a few different flavours. In retrospect, I''m not positive I want cupcakes so might''ve shot myself in the foot a bit with that one. But we''ll see. Maybe something like: choc/pb, white chocolate/raspberry and one other combo. If they were decorated nicely, I could be on board with that.

Wedding cakes are cliche... What about a tiramisu cake? orrrrrr... a very plain none-sweet cake like angel food cake? You can probably have the sugar content of any cake you want altered as well...

My FI doesn''t care for sweets, but he will eat salty crunchy stuff like it''s water. If we had chips for our wedding, he will be ecstatic.

LOL my SO nad your FI just might be long lost relatives or something. E is the same way!

I swear he''d love it if we had a pile of Cheese Its.

It''s not that he doesn''t like sweets he hates them. If I eat a piece of chocolate he won''t come near me. So no Cupcakes, no cake of any kind. Although I think a nice angel food cake would be a nice.

Maybe I can talk him into a fruit and chocolate fondue. he doesn''t have to dip his fruit but for everyone else it''ll be a nice touch. Also someone once said we could just do a nice cheese and wine type thing....so I guess those are a couple options.
