FI and I are big music fans, so of course all of our music choices are big priorities to us. So here''s my question:

Did anybody use recordings of music for their ceremony? If so, how did that work? Our sanctuary has a state-of-the-art sound system, so we could certainly play anything we''d like, but if you did something like this, did you hire someone to start and stop the music before and during the ceremony?

I''m asking because we''re thinking about playing songs from a Beatles tribute album by a classical ensemble called Trio Rococo. (I strongly recommend them to any Beatles fans.) The music has a bit of a baroque sound to it, and it is extremely beautiful so it''s perfect for a wedding. I''ve been listening to the album as I fall asleep each night for over ten years now.

We''re thinking of playing Trio Rococo''s version of Norweigan Wood during the first part of the processional, then Blackbird when I come out, and then Here Comes the Sun for the recessional. These songs sound so wrong if you''re thinking of the original Beatles version, but trust me, the classical tributes are INCREDIBLE!

Thanks for your help!

We''re planning to... I''ll come back in a couple of weeks and tell you how it went.

We''re getting married outside, so we had to coordinate with our DJ to set this up for us as we needed to use his sound system. We''re also using his technical skills... he''s going to time the ceremony that includes music (processional, recessional) during the rehearsal and edit the music that night to loop if necessary and cut it down appropriately so it isn''t just stopped in the middle. He''ll also do fading and such. He said most of the problems relating from using recordings is the length... most songs are too long. So you''ll need to pay attention to that.

Also, since you''re getting married in a church, have you checked to make sure it''s ok to use secular music? Many churches require religious music, and prohibit secular music. Just be sure it''s ok before you put a lot of time into it.

We used recorded music, but had our dj in charge of it. It worked out great. I think if you''re going to have a friend do it, just make sure they get to practice a lot!

Hey...
I work for my church and when people get married here, they are required to hire our sound personnel to prevent damage to our sound system/equipment/mics. If your church doesn''t require you use their person, you still may want to ask and hire him/her anyway for their experience/knowledge of and with the system in that particular church. It would be worth it so as not to have feedback screeching or bad sound overall.

Have you ever heard the Canadian Brass beatles covers? Another classical take on the fab four...

Thank you for all of the responses!

- My synagogue allows secular music, so that isn''t a problem at all. Thank you for the head''s up, though.

- I worked there for many years as the School Administrator before I started teaching in public schools, so they love us and won''t be restricting who does what, so we can have anyone handle the actual music. In fact, we don''t have anyone who is in charge of the sound system at the synagogue, perhaps it would be easier if we did!

- Sumbride--It sounds like your DJ has it down pat, I can''t wait to hear all about your wedding!!!! My mother is a tech goddess so she said she could do all that with the fading in and out, but I''m not sure I want to rely on a pre-timed set of music in case we take longer to get everyone down the aisle on the day of the wedding, ugh.

-Ness--We don''t have sound personnel at our synagogue, I wish we did! The Office Administrator takes care of all that, but I don''t think she does that for weddings and such. I''ll ask, though.

-LadyPirate--Thanks for the recommendation, I''m excited to check them out!
