Another Red spinel 2.5 ct

Based on the images and my monitor, I don't see red, only pink -- looks like a decent cushion cut with strong saturation -- hope you love it

Picture is so oversaturated to the point I cannot make out the facets clearly.

I agree you cannot tell much from the photos. My favorite photos for accuracy are with the same, controlled light across all listings against a neutral grey background (palagems, thegemtrader). I hope its gorgeous in person.
I do see red - orangey red though.

I think it will look more pink and less saturated in person, still very nice Spinel and great brilliance!

I can't even tell if it's transparent or so included that it's nearly opaque.

I agree with @musicloveranthony that it's crazy over-saturated -- and that is typically not something that a reputable seller would do without the disclaimer that this looks like a terrible photo but I had to do that to capture or show you <something>.

So, how does it look like? :) pictures please

It looks oiled to me if it's saturated and included. Are you able to have a lab examine it?

He has sent some videos from iphone 12 that show more. Will try and upload after work. Very saturated and amazingly brilliant. I hope it is.

Were they taken in sunlight only?

Red, pink and orange spinels should also be viewed in artificial light.

Still scheduled to arrive today. Has a cert AIGS says Jedi red No treatment

Pics were incandescent light, led, cfl and shade daylight

I'm quite excited to see your pics and impression. I wonder how strict AIGS is with Jedi. Gubelin's Jedi designation is way too lax.

AIGS is known to be loose on trade names. A ruby and spinel vendor I know always says “AIGS pigeon blood guaranteed, maybe also from GRS”. If you know how easily GRS gives Pigeon Blood, you can draw your own conclusions

Trade names are marketing tools and should be recognized as such

Well typical of the Covid era shipping, the package is delayed. Now scheduled for tomorrow. I won't hold my breath.

It finally arrived and now I understand when they say not touched by the dark side. All I can say is WOW and sold. Its brilliance is stunning and it just glows. Extinction is non-existent, hue is neon pinkish red to more red depending on the light source. It just is ablaze and glows in incandescent, CFL, LED and shaded daylight. Hopefully it will be sunny tomorrow. My wife's first words upon seeing it was my God that is a bright red stone. Will try and get pictures tomorrow. Tried to take a quick few but I am lacking in technique and understand why the pictures I initially posted looked the way they did.

Glad to hear you love it! Now share some pictures of that beauty with us

@agc It is a huuuuge breach of decorum to not share photos, fyi.

Very difficult for me to capture on my Samsung phone. Switched to black background because incandescent in hand was difficult to focus. Best I can do but the pictures just to give it justice or I should say my poor photography skills.

Do you mind sharing the name of the vendor?

Gorgeous! You said it shifts from pinkish red to more red - when its more red does it go orangey, or keep that pink modifier? I absolutely love vivid orangey red spinels, so I'm curious.

lovedogs it is not a vendor but a private collector.

Demantoidz funny you should ask. I am not the best with some of the secondary hues. I don't know if it is a male interpretation of color issue with me so I asked my wife last night what she was seeing and she mentioned possibly a little orange. I would trust her interpretation over mine.

I showed it to a good friend who owns a jewelry store and a few ladies standing about 15 feet away made comments of how "sparkly" and "bright" it was. They wanted to know if it was a ruby. I guess most people associate red with ruby.

Haha, I am a man, it has nothing to do with gender just getting your eye used to it by seeing lots of colors and judging their modifiers.

Actually there have been some interesting cognitive and linguistic studies about color perception differences between men and women. But thats way off topic!

Very nice, and thanks for sharing! To me, it is an orangey-red spinel, not a pinkish red spinel (like 99.99% being sold as pure red or pinkish red).

I bought a “pure red red” spinel recently and guess what? Orangey red

In most of the vendor's photos and the OP's photos I see orangey red. Could be shifty, or monitor differences.

Which is fine, but the price needs to reflect it. Orange is a less valued modifier

It’s funny that in certain light it is no doubt definitely pinkish red but when it goes redder I was uncertain if it had some orange. Wife thought it did.

Really really love that colour. Does the vendor have any more of these?
