This is a gorgeous antique watch that I bought thinking it was 14k and paid to have it serviced so that it ran perfectly (I have that receipt somewhere and will include it in the box) with the one request that it not be polished so that it might retain its beautiful patina. But noooooooooooo, the watchmaker just couldn’t resist. He polished it. Subsequently with the lovely age removed, the watch doesn’t look like gold any more. Vermeil? Gold fill? Don’t know. I darent open the back to find out, but to my eye this does not look like gold. Anyway, it runs perfectly and the little synthetic sapphire crystal crown is perfect Art Deco gorgeousness. It keeps time and looks great stacked with bracelets. The original clasp is definitely vermeil, but it works and is secure.
I’m taking a loss, for sure, but someone out there would enjoy this beauty. Mazel Tov to her new mom!
