Any marks inside? It might be costume jewelry. It looks like the gold plating has worn off the prongs.
The stones might be jade, which is used often in gold plated items.
What is a pound shop.....did you mean pawn shop?

The first thing to look for is hallmarks.
real Platinium, gold and silver is hallmarked.
silver is usually marked as 925 (as parts of 1,000)
Pure gold is 24k. Gold is hallmarked with 10k, 14k, 18k (or c instead of k) or with 333, 585, 750 (as parts of 1,000).
platinum is usually 900 (as parts of 1,000) or sometimes just “Plat”.
Plated jewellery aka fashion or costume jewellery won’t have precious metal marks as there usually isn’t any. There might however be a marker mark. Somebrands of costume jewellery, especially vintage, are very collectible and worth quite a few $$$.
If a piece of jewellery is in a precious metal it is more likely the gemstone will be real ie not just glass or plastic, but not necessarily a natural gemstone.
Many types of gemstones are recreated in labs and while the look and characteristics are the same as natural, proper testing will tell if found in the ground or made in a lab. Big price difference.

Hi thankyou. pound shop ring means from the cheap pound store meaning worthless. The ring has no gold coming off anywhere, including prongs I think this is the light from the camera. Hallmarks I see none at all, the stones have what look like veins in. It's all set very neat, it's quite a large ring. I was given this alongside some diamond and pearl serpent style earrings and lots of other beautiful pieces. Very few are hallmarked yet have been with the same person for a very long time. Thank you for the help. I appreciate the answers.

These are a few of the costume unmarked pieces. One is marked 20220414_103949.jpg

Love the cufflinks - looks like Tigers Eye - I have a soft spot for that stone - it reminds me of my mother.

I look at pictures like this and think jewlery and accessories used to be so much more fun in days gone past
I love all these pieces

I totally agree, I have 3 beautiful daughters who seem to appreciate costume jewellry like I do and love to wear it all, my daughter wore genuine pearls for her prom at 11 years old haha, we had no clue there were thaihiti pearls at the time. Let's hope it all comes back so we can wear out brooches. :)
