I''m thinking about buying a Gocco but would love to hear from anyone who has printed their own invites using one. There are all these great examples of Gocco prints on etsy, but I''m wondering how much practice they have had before their results started looking so good!

''Happy in Love'' - I know you printed your invites with a Gocco, but i don''t think I ever saw a picture of the result. Did you ever post one? I would love to see them!

Anyone else have Gocco experience they could share??

thanks!

my gocco!

I am almost done with my invites, and I am using it for soooo many other things that it has definitely made it a worthy expense. Give me a minute to blur out some info and I will post a pic of what I''ve done so far.

It didn''t take much to figure out, I was a little nervous at first, so I did a little practice image, but it was so easy!

here it is. I have to do one more screen with the date/time/place in the lower right section still. I just decided yesterday on the ceremony location, so that is why I haven't finished yet!
FYI: the gocco I have only prints a 4x6 area, since my invite is 5x7 I just did it in sections.
Let me know if you have any other questions, and Good Luck!
eta: they are all stacked on top of each other, so the line on the left is just another invite.

I have a Gocco but haven''t tried using it for my invitations. I''m definitely going to look into it, though.

If you live in the Chicago area you can use mine instead of buying your own!

Happy in Love - oh my gosh!!! thank you thank you for posting those! they look unbelievably good!!!! now i am hooked. i NEED A GOCCO!!!!!!! I am so "happy in love" with your invites!

questions: did you/are you having difficulties finding supplies? the screens, paints, bulbs, etc.? i think they sell this stuff at pearl but im afraid they are going to stop carrying them and i will have trouble finding replacements for it all.

also, just our of curiosity, how many screens did you use to make your invites? were you able to do the light blue text in the upper left and the dark blue of your names on one screen, or would they be separate becuase they are different colors?

...and did i mention that i love them?

haven - thank you so much for offering to share!! unfortunately i''m not in chicago : (
i''m trying win one on ebay and they seem to go for around $150. kind of expensive, but i think is fine because i think i would use it a lot. where did you find yours? i can''t seem to figure out any other options besides ebay....

I will have used 3 screens when it is all said and done, but here is why...

I did the bottom left scrolling on one screen, and the second screen was the upper right and then the wording. I used "ink block" that comes with the printer to separate the colors.
But, because I used textured paper I needed to hold the press down for about 15 seconds for the light blue (don''t press too hard, just hold it so the ink can absorb)
The dark blue only needed about 6 seconds. I ended up taping a piece of paper to the screen to block the dark blue from printing, and finished the invites with just the light blue. Then I taped off the light blue and uncovered the dark blue, and printed each invite again. It sounds more difficult than it really was!! I have to do one more screen for the missing info too.
Make sure you have enough extra paper so you can test how long to hold each color and you should be fine.

I have been ordering my supplies online. Wetpaint and thinkink I think are the places I have used so far, they both have a large selection of supplies. My only complaint is that I cant see the inks in person, so it makes it hard to know which colors will look right together. I suggest buying extra ink block. I found that if I use it around each section it prevents ink from being spread out too much and being wasted.

I am also printing coasters, the other inserts for the invites, and menu''s, so I will keep you posted!

Aww MMM, it''s too bad that we aren''t close enough to share. I''m all about pooling resources!

I found mine on eBay for about $100. I hope you find one, you''ve inspired me to try to make my own invites using it. My mother is a skilled calligrapher, maybe we''ll play with have her calligraphy one invite and then use that as a template. Hmmm . . . I''ll post pictures when I try it!

Good luck!

haven - i think that would be a great idea for you. it would be special for your mother to have her mark on your invites, but she wouldn''t have to actually write out each and every one

This is seriously the coolest thing I have ever seen!!!

I need to get my hands on one of these.

I am a graphic designer who started out about 12 years ago in screenprinting.. I am all about all this DIY stuff for my wedding and I am probably going to make myself nuts.. thank you so much for posting this thread! I have to see if the Pearl Paint near me carries Gocco!

And please keep posting your creations!

I have a Gocco, but I haven''t been brave enough to try it yet. But I am planning to try and make some STD postcards this month, so if I can get a design in place, I will be taking a stab at it.

HiL, those invites look amazing! I can''t wait to see the finished product.
