I have a tourmaline of approximate size of 6.6mm (round), however there is a stock setting from a vendor that I really like, good price, but the largest they have them in is for a size 6.5 mm stone...do I dare order this semi mount (local jeweler will set my stone) will it even fit? or do I need to just go up and find a setting elsewhere for a 7mm round instead? I thought there would be some wiggle room? Thanks!

I''d go with the 6.5mm...it''s close enough.
6.5 or 7.0mm heads are standard stock sizes.
Consult your local jeweler/setter first, however just to be sure.

Thanks Jeff!

I agree with Jeff...it worth a talk with jeweler about possiblity.

Thanks Jewelerman, I ended up buying another semi mount that had a custom head to fit what I wanted, as the couple of jeweler kept saying they needed to see it, and I didn''t want to buy and not be able to return.

For future reference it depends on the head.
Some are rated for the max they will take others can take a much larger stone than they are rated for.

thanks strmrdr.... its just tricky with the amount i was willing to spend plus adding additional unknown charges from my jeweler to replace/fix a head, or just go with someone with the custom fit already for just a few dollars more was my hang up.
