Diamond questions

http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/7267/

.94 ct / I / SI1 - $4,158

My concern is that the diamond is on the lower end of the color and clarity scales. Does the fact that this is an AVC make up for those concerns? Or is $4,000 better spent on better "statistical" diamond?

Setting questions

I previously posted about wanting to replicate the Tiffany Legacy; however, I may have changed my mind. I really like the Tacori 2620 and its "delicate" halo, rather than the larger halos (i.e. Legacy style).

My thinking is to try to spend roughly $4,000 on the diamond and $2,000 on the setting. Two questions come to mind. First, is that ratio out-of-whack or reasonable considering I want a pave/halo setting? Second, can I find a Tacori or something similar ("delicate halo") that fits into this budget?

As always, your knowledge is very much appreciated. I really don't know what I would do without this place. Thanks in advance!

The AVC is gorgeous! And it's not on the low end of any thing - it'll be a stunner. The Tacori 2620 is a great setting for it; but it may be a tad over 2k (email Marie for a quote).

I would ask GOG whether the stone is eye clean. The feather seems a little long in the black and white picture but may effectively be invisible in real life.

As for the I color, it's only *too low* if it bothers you. An I is plenty fine for a lot of people. If you've seen I's in this size before and seen it under several light sources (and don't mind), then the color is not a problem. If you haven't seen I's in person, I'd advise you to go do that.

As for the ratio, I don't think it's totally "out of whack" - although, personally I'd prefer a larger diamond and simpler setting (but then, I'm comfortable with changing the setting at a later point as well). The Tacori 2620 is beautiful in its own right. There's a GOG video of an AVC and 2620. Have you seen it? Both diamond and setting are top of the line though, imo. Whatever you decide, I'm sure you can't go wrong with some combination of the two - and even just one of those two.

Thanks for the response, I just emailed for a quote.

I just viewed the 2060 in person and I am impressed. The price at the store was over 2K, but not by a whole lot.

The price of the store's diamonds, however, was a different story. A similar size/color/clarity cushion was roughly $900 more than an AVC!?

Re: Any reasons not to buy this AVC? And setting questions.

Brick and Motar jewelry store diamonds will generally cost more than what you'll find online, due to overhead and higher margins. While GOG also has a standing store, they have great prices. The AVC is somewhat more expensive than other cushions you'll find online, due to their consistentyly high standard and light performance (as well as Jon's R&D expenses). As I'm sure you've seen though, the AVC is worth the premium if you're looking for a well cut, high performance, chunky cushion.

I own a J SI1 AVC, and have no concerns about color or clarity.
