I love how earrings look but they bug me to wear.

I have some pretty ones but they hurt and then I end up taking them off within a few hours.

Am I the only one who can''t wear earrings? Or who finds them uncomfortable?

Oh well, still can enjoy rings/ neclaces etc

Why do they hurt, are they too heavy?? Or are you allergic to them in some way, as some people can''t wear WG earrings??

My grandmother finally got her ears pierced well into her sixties, only to find that she hates wearing earrings. Works out well for me, because I got her diamond studs.

I like wearing chandalier and dangly earrings, but they really start to bother me within an hour or so. I can wear them for an evening, but not for the day.

What kind of earrings bother you? Studs? More substantial ones? All earrings?

I have not worn heavy earrings/hanging earrings since I became a mom 9 years ago. I''m talking simple studs even hurt. I gave up on gold and got a pair of diamond studs in platinum, 1ctw. I think one of my holes was not pierced correctly (and this was 30 years ago) and that ear feels hot and burns. Its not infected, and when I put the earring in, it does not go straight through. Its like the hole is not straight in the ear, it kind of curves through the ear. Yuk.

Any suggestions? The hole won''t close up even going years without wearing earrings its still there. And same problem.

Since the resale on diamonds is so low and my studs are good quality I am going to save them and when each of my daughter''s gets older, I can present them with a 1/2 carat solitaire pendant or neclace. What ever is in style then. What do you think? I think thats a good way to not waste these diamonds. They are so pretty.

Years ago I had screwback diamond studs and they tore up my ear. They were tiny and I don''t know what ever happened to them. So I got these earrings with regular friction backs (and am always so worried about wearing them)

I also do not enjoy wearing earrings. I only recently decided to buy small diamond hoops to match my promise ring - after 5 years of not wearing earrings! I did manage to find little hoops that are comfortable…I sleep/shower/speak on the phone and no problems! The hoops are not from Tiffany - but from a local mall store...

Ouch, that sounds so painful!

I''m actually on my second or third ear piercing. Back in my basketball days, we weren''t allowed even to wear studs, so I''d end up not wearing earrings for the whole season out of laziness. My ears would close up after one season. It might take less time than you think, and then you could get them repierced? I hope that somebody else chimes in with better advice, though.

If you end up not wanting to wear earrings, I think that saving the diamonds for your daughters is a lovely idea. I''m so thankful that my grandmother handed hers down to me, because I''m not sure that I could justify the cost at this point in my life otherwise.

Pretty hoops! And I love your promise ring. Very unique but classy :)

How wonderful you got diamonds from your grandma :)

They won''t close up because I have gone years at at time without wearing earrings. I think maybe since I got them at age 7, they were healing as I was growing. They are not going anywhere.

I actually have 3 holes in 1 year and 2 in the other when the multiple earring look was really hot when I was in college in the late ''80s. I regretted the extra holes and had not worn earrings in 15 years. Out of curiousity I tried one of the studs and the hole was still open

I don''t intend to use them but that is just proof that after at least 13 years on no use the hole won''t close up. But they are so small they look more like freckles at this point than piercings.

I guess its time to just face that I''m not an earring type person. OH well. But on the bright side, I do have nice long fingers- great for RINGS! And with rings you can look at and enjoy it while wearing them as opposed to earrings you need to look in a mirror.

Still love the look of studs. Oh well. My 2 daughters will enjoy a diamond each one day.

Even though they don''t close up completely, I think they do close up a little bit (meaning the holes get smaller). Because I have the same problem as you mentioned if I take my earrings for a week or so and then wear them again. My ears get red and a slight burn, but then it goes away after a couple of days. Maybe it''s the same thing for you.

I have a similar problem. My ears burn and hurt, turn red and get a bit puffy. I know my holes were either pierced wrong or close up a little, because I often have to wiggle the earring around and push to get the post to come out the back. (yes tmi, I know) I find that very narrow posts and lots of rubbing alcohol on the ear and the post really helps with the pain. But because of the irritation, I don't wear earrings very much so I think it's a bit of a circle.

Now that I think of it, I had some small hoops that were comfortable for long periods. Why don't you try some small light hoops? Maybe the huggie type? Make sure it's the one that snaps into the back of the hoop to close, not with a backing like a regular stud.

Ya, I''ve had a similar problem. I got my ears pierced when I was 12 and I''ve gone through phases of wearing earings and not wearing them. Mostly not wearing them. Because my ears also get irritated. I used to put neosporin on my earing posts before I put them in. It kind of helped. Recently I''ve been wanting to wear earings more and the few that I wear occasionaly do not bother me so much. I bought one pair at a garage sale and another pair in Mexico. They are nice, but nothing special, sterling silver. But they are french hook and I think my ear likes this for some reason, maybe cause it''s more open on the back than earings with backs. That''s what I think, I don''t know. The earings are very light too and I take them off at night. I say wait a few months and then try another pair. It''s funny to think that ears can be picky, but I know they are! Hope you can wear some soon!
