Just wondering if anyone has been to Bali? My fiance and I are contemplating going there on our honeymoon, staying 3 nights at the Four Seasons Sayan and then 5 nights at the Four Seasons Jimbaran Bay. Please write with any experiences of Bali, especially with the Four Seasons there... Thanks!
Nicole

I''ve never been, sorry I''m no help!

I'm sorry if what I'm about to type scares you but I thought it necessary.

I don't know what sort of world news coverage you get, but in case you didn't know, many Australian tourists (as well as many other tourists) have lost their lives in Bali in the past few years due to terrorist bombings - both in Kuta and Jimbaran Bay. I'm not trying to scare you off, just letting you know what our government advises it's citizens. Check out the link below.

I do understand there is a risk to travel to Indonesia. I have been following all of the latest headlines. My fiance is a physician for the US Navy and we have found out that although there is the risk, we accept that. Based on the fact that he has already been to Iraq for seven months, been wounded (received a purple heart) and is going back to Iraq on Monday

we have an attitude that if something happens it is going to happen and to some extent, it is out of our control. We don''t want to live our lives in constant fear. I hope that doesn''t sound irrational or careless. Really what it is going to come down to is if the military approves his leave, the lawyer for the Marine battalion he is with right now says that is usually it is not a problem.. We shall see!

no, it does not sound irrational or careless but rational given your circumstances.

avoid crowds of Aussies and US citizens: that''s what my Aussie in-laws do [they love bali!] and my accupuncturist here in california is there now....her 2nd trip in 4 years. however, she''s staying in a private residence out in the countryside this time. but she says she heads for the beaches ''down south'' and eats fish caught that day and cooked on the beach....you point to the one you want and tell them how you want it cooked and its done. she loves it there!

if you get the chance, go and have a great time.

You are not being irrational or careless at all. My post wasn''t meant to scare you off travelling to Bali, just to let you know what''s happening so that you could make an informed decision about whether to travel or not. If you do decide to travel there, I hope you have a great time.
