(Originally Nov. 11th, now Nov 23..) but I''m SO SO SO excited. I saw RENT when it was first popular.. but I was a young teen.. and I don''t think I really got it.. Saw it again last year.. and I seriously cried through the ENTIRE thing.. I was then officially OBSESSED, so ever since I saw the first teaser trailer for it.. I''ve been dying to see it! I just saw a trailer on TV for it for the first time.. So now I can''t wait even more!
Its almost all the original cast.. except Mimi who is being played by Rosario Dawson. ??

I''m a huge RENT fan and I can''t wait to see it either! When I heard that the original cast was starring in the movie, my first thought was, Aren''t they going to be too old?

I''m sure I''ll love it anyway!

I can''t wait! I had the soundtrack for 2 years before I ever saw a production of it. It was amazing.

~~I''ve never seen the movie, but I saw the previews and I heard great things about it, so I can''t wait to see it for the first time!!!!

I love the musical and I can''t wait to see how the movie compares!!!!

SO EXCITED!!! I actually took my 16 year-old sister to NY to see it on Broadway this summer (her first time, my 2nd), so that we would then be prepared to see the movie together!

I first heard the soundtrack in high school and saw the show in college. I think it means so much to me because of the way it really "speaks" to my generation, similar to the way "My So-Called Life" did. Does that make sense? Plus the music is just so powerful...I LOVE it!

LOL, I was such a RENThead...I saw it a ridiculous amount of time and considering I was like 14-17 for the height of my obsession, I often look back and wonder how I got so much money to spend on theater tickets and traveling around the country with friends to see it

For the movie, I''ll be going with my fellow obsessee''s from HS...we''ve sort of lost touch and don''t really hang out, but we''ll head to the movie together for old time''s sake...should be fun!

MelissaSue, the other non-OBC in the movie is Tracie Thoms as "Joanne" ...then obviously the supporting cast members aren''t originals.

I don''t like Adam Pascal''s hairstyle in the movie. He was interviewed saying he wanted it to be different from his bway performance and I''m like great, so you change your hair that all of us loved? hehe. The soundtrack sounds a lot like the cast recording, but I guess that is to be expected. I have it on my computer, but I havent bought it yet...I can''t decide which cast member I want featured on my cover

that''s so funny you mention My so called life- when i saw RENT on broadway, the guy that played claire danes'' gay best friend was Angel (i think that was the character''s name) in RENT. i was so pumped that i got to see him live (i saw it in the 90''s on broadway and was a huge my so called life fan!!)

i am excited about the movie. my thought was that they should have made it sooner. the play was SO popular when it came out (1996?). also, the play fit what was going on then. the style was kinda underground grunge. i think it would have fit in better as a movie a few years ago.

with that said- i will definitely be watching the movie! i also loved the soundtrack. it was one of my favorites. i say was because several years ago my car was broken into and all the cd''s i''d ever owned were stolen.

Yeah, that is totally one of the criticisms about it...that they may have waited to long so people who are unfamiliar with the story line or arent already in love with it, wont think that it is really pertinant to today''s issues or won''t go out and see it....and one point that was made is now it really isnt aids in america that is publicized a lot, but aids in africa. I know it probably would''ve been made earlier but there were hold ups. I am not really sure how it''ll do, but I think all the long-time fans will be happy to FINALLY enjoy it, since people have been talking about a movie for years and years and years now!

did not care for the play when it was in san francisco. however, the trailer for the movie looks good and i will go see it.

peace, movie zombie

I missed the play also. Have to say the trailors look pretty good. I am looking forward to seeing it. I love the music!!

Anyone else see it tonight? I went with a group of friends and we loved it! It was very true to the Broadway production, all but two songs are in the movie. The movie is lots of fun and very uplifting but not without it''s sad moments too. Great performances by the entire cast! Go see it, I highly recommend it!!!

No! I didn''t get to see it yet.. Was thinking of going tonight.. but the night somehow slipped away. Maybe tomorrow night.

LOL, I am so-so for the movie, kind of lukewarm feelings, my DH is geeked over the movie being out.

I tell him that he is the woman in the relationship and I must be the guy... ;)
