It’s not love at first sight for me. Reminds me of stained glass art.

I'd get moissanite if I wanted that look in a stone. Not for me.

Wish some of these vendors would branch out into other shapes. Where are the Magic Prisms rose cuts and briolettes... I'd actually be curious about those! #SpecialSauce RBs have just been done to death at this point.

Gimmick.

I'd be interested in seeing what they look like in a variety of lighting environments... the few videos they have tell me nothing and also don't look very real.

This has been out in the past, called Fire Polish.
It can be removed from the diamond if someone should change their mind.

The same patents

I guess the cutting company changes the product name or jewellers are sourcing diamonds from the same cutter

Exactly my thought, it looks like moissanite and moissy is cheaper!

It is like the Leo diamond at Kay’s and Jared’s. Many more facets and you get the splintered fire instead of the larger flashes with traditional hearts and arrows cutting. It will hide imperfections better as well. If you have ever looked at Leo diamonds, they are sold according to carat weight. Color and clarity are not a factor; it is the luck of the draw as to which you get because the philosophy is that it doesn’t matter so much as most of that is masked with the cut. Can be eye catching but worthless IMO except to the company that sells them. They will be happy to take it back in trade on another overpriced, hack job of a cut diamond.

I love the icy white look of a diamond and only prefer color when I see the delicate pastels of an old cut that has kozibe. Seeing it splinter everywhere just sends signals to my brain that it's fake. I think the majority of people wouldn't think its a natural diamond on first glance either.

I've never understood the appeal of those specialty cuts. Splintery fire isnt for me

I’d love to see a regular rotating diamond image of one of these, so I could watch the color for myself and move it back and forth, instead of a YouTube video. I doubt I’d actually like it, but I’d check it out.

There are a couple
Videos on YouTube that show the Leo First Light. It’s kind of cool looking but it looks nothing like a diamond. If there was a generic lab version of this available I might buy it for a fun different kind of pendant but I’d never spend money on a mined diamond for it to look like that.

Interestingly enough, the Leo diamond now has several iterations. You can go to Kay Jewelers website to see them. They also claim to sell ideal cut diamonds but they are far from ideal IMO. Some of their diamond jewelry is now set in sterling silver - really?

It looks holographic....

I feel like that would bother me sooo much seeing it on my hand daily in real life.

I found one on JA a while back and the video was really cool. Too bad it had a big inclusion.

The difference with an old cut is the fire is large and slow moving so when you see a flash you can follow it through a range of rotation.
These are tiny teeny flashes that - as they say in their promo video - are seen from the other side of the room. Better than close up!

I don't know. Admittedly I love fire, it's my favorite thing about diamonds and moissanites. There just seems to be something off with that one. As I said above it looks holographic. It reminds me of book covers that used to be popular in school with the same type of reflective pattern. Shoot, I even loved the book covers so I'm not sure why I don't care for it in the stone. I fully expected to love it because there was more colored light return.

"nano-technology perfected by our diamond master craftsmen etches thousands of invisible nano-prisms onto the pavilion of a beautifully polished, natural diamond"

Okay, so what is a nano-prism? It's a diffraction grating.

www.nationaljeweler.com/articles/8508-an-advancement-in-diamond-beauty

"By cutting Nano Prisms (diffraction gratings) on the pavilion of a diamond, Fire Polish is able to increase the dispersion (FIRE) and scintillation (SPARKLE) of any diamond without affecting the diamonds cut or brilliance."

"Nano (symbol n) is a unit prefix meaning "one billionth". Used primarily with the metric system, this prefix denotes a factor of 10−9 or 0.000000001."

Okay, enough of that science nerd stuff for this morning.

Part 2 fwiw - Why is a rhinestone called a rhinestone? Google dropped this in my search results.

"What is a rhinestone? Rhinestones are named after sparkling quartz pebbles once found on the banks of the Rhine River in Europe. It's said that these pebbles had a high lead content, which enlivened the brilliance beyond the average quartz stone."

Meh-
If there was a fun eternity band of these stones in fashion jewelry price range - I might enjoy it occasionally as a stacker.

1980’s me would feel differently. I’d have bought this advertisement speal hook line and sinker for an ER.

But is it permanent? Or could it wear off? I wonder if that's what my hang up is? Like if it can wear down then it's lesser quality?

The micro prisms are on the pavilion of the diamond. They are not going to wear off as the pavilion of the mounted diamond does not receive any wear. I have seen them before at the JCK show. I was not tempted to bring any back to the office...

Well somebody please take a real life pic and post it here.

As Wink says, been around at least 10 years.
The photos are only slightly exaggerated.
Didn't ever make a big splash.
Maybe a tiny drip.

I’d definitely like to see one in real life. But would rush to buy one. It wouldn’t go with all the rest of my diamonds!
