So, when looking through Pinterest and the internet for new gems and minerals pictures to post to my Pinterest categories, I kept occasionally coming across Welo opals from a place called 'opalauctions.com'. So I went over there, and made relatively low bids on a few very nice looking Welo free form crystal opals, but didnt pull the trigger to place the highest bid yet. Havent been back in nearly a week, but I did experiment by asking 2 separate questions of one of the more popular opal sellers there, and the person got back to me within 24 hours on both questions. The first question was to see if they would tell me the reserve price of two 3.5ct - 5.5ct opals I had some interest in. They did.

But I also wanted to check if anyone here has bought from them. I have bought gems from ebay and other indirect sources like that before, and it was a mixed bag, sorta hit and miss(can I think of any more relevant cliches to end the sentence with?) I have bought at least 2 crystal opals in the past, and had 1 of them mounted. But I dont even think they had begun mining opals from that area of Tanzania back then(2003-2006). I wouldnt mind having a nice one.

I think in old times, several years ago, certain well-known Priscopers recommended Opal Auctions. I was referred to it when I wanted to buy a Mexican opal. But like you, I did not pull the trigger on the one I liked because it was expensive. So, no personal experience, but the site does not have any bad reputation, either.

They are fairly good in their business.I have bought few from them. You ask them clearly about all your doubts and they will come with all proper answers.I have good experience with them=)2

All sellers are different. I bought a welo opal from a seller there. It arrived with a polishing defect, so he had me send it back at my expense for him to fix it (he had guaranteed the polishing as perfect, but it had a gouge in the back). When I got it back, the back was curved. He had insisted it was stable material, but after six months in my night table drawer, it crackled. So my one experience was not good. The seller is well-respected in the field of stone sourcing and cutting.
